Joseph MorganMuch as we all love the bloodlusty intrigue of "The Vampire Diaries," it's kind of a bummer how it's only one show. Y'know? Like, wouldn't it be amazing if we could all watch the ongoing drama between Elena, Stefan and Damon and at the same time be getting a juicy in-depth look at the story of the Originals? WELL. Today, the universe has a delightful gift for us: the news, via Deadline, that The CW is possibly considering a spin-off series called (you guessed it!) "Originals," which focuses exclusively on the origin stories of the series' vampire family.

If you've been camping out front of your local movie theater, waiting for action-adventure alien romance "The Host" to finally make its appearance in theaters, you might want to take a brief detour to your local bookstore for the latest advance look at the film! (Go on, we'll hold your place in line.) That's where you'll find the amahhhhzing "The Host: The Official Illustrated Movie Companion," a big juicy paperback guide to the cinematic adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's sci-fi novel.

It's your chance to get an advance, in-depth look at how the sausage gets made...only better, because the making of sausage is an absolutely disgusting process involving ground meats and sheep intestines, whereas the making of this movie is all about cool locations and fancy sets and behind-the-scenes shots of Jake Abel looking all squinty and sexy in the desert sun.

Catching Fire EWWe've been waiting forever for the buzz to start buzzing in advance of "The Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire"—and alas, we've got to wait a whole lot longer before the movie hits theaters—but in the interim, at least we've got this: the first look in Entertainment Weekly, which features a giant spread of behind-the-scenes intel and interviews with the movie's stars, and a seriously crushworthy cover featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Sam Claflin in their Capitol-issue full-body bathing suits. (Although fans will no doubt be disappointed to see that the shot of Sam in his clingy spandex swimwear cuts off just shy of the interesting parts. Oh, EW, how you tease.)

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence is busy doing what she does best: acting ridiculous in her signature omg-can-we-please-be-BFFs style. Among her soundbites from the interview:

"I'm pregnant!"

Our daily dose of Hollywood gossip might have dwindled down to nearly nothing over the holidays, but that didn't stop our favorite stars from popping up on New Year's Eve to wish their friends and fans a happy and prosperous 2013! Across the country and around the world, various celebs took to Twitter with news of their New Year's plans—or got caught by photographers as they bid a private goodbye to 2012. Where were Hollywood's finest when the ball dropped on Monday night?

Beachy celebrations might just be the first major trend of the new year, with a lot of celebs choosing to spend December 31 in more tropical climes. Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum watched fireworks in St. Barts, while Lea Michele and Cory Monteith both tweeted pics of soft sand and palm trees from an undisclosed location.

Warm BodiesEveryone knows that the week between Christmas and New Year's is always just kind of... y'know... dead. Which means that today's juicy new peek at this year's first, best book-to-movie blockbuster adaptation "Warm Bodies" is both very welcome and highly appropriate!

The first four minutes of the film hit the internet last night (via Fandango), offering us a positively charming preview of the zombie drama to come—but also fitting right in with the general draggy mood of this mid-holiday slowdown. Seriously, the sluggish undead action of the opening airport scene? Virtually indistinguishable from the grunting and stumbling of our Uncle Barry as he wanders the house in search of leftover eggnog. Except that Uncle Barry is still alive. We think.

When MTV News compiled its list of the Top 20 Newsmakers of 2012, it came as no surprise that Bella Swan and her vampire coven bit into the No. 1 spot for most click-worthy story of the year. After all, "The Twilight Saga" has been a part of the pop-culture consciousness for more than four years, bringing with it a fangirl army stronger than the most ravenous of newborn bloodsuckers. And as the sun set on the film franchise in November, with the premiere of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," it ended not with a whimper but a bang. To wit, here's our GIF Guide to the year in "Twilight":

City of Lost SoulsShadowhunters not only look better in black—they look better atop the leaderboard too. After a week of feverish ballot-casting in Hollywood Crush's Favorite YA Novel of 2012 poll, Cassandra Clare's urban fantasy "City of Lost Souls" has slayed its way to the No. 1 spot!

The novel, the fifth in the author's "Mortal Instruments" series, handily bested second-place finisher "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green and third-place finisher "The Golden Lily" by Richelle Mead.

See the full results!

"I'm so happy that so many have embraced the story of Jace and Clary and their friends," Cassie told Hollywood Crush of the honor. "This fifth book was a pleasure to write but also sad because I knew it meant the end of the 'Mortal Instruments' was drawing closer. It will be bittersweet to say goodbye to the characters next year!"

The critics might have been split on whether Kristen Stewart's sheer chiffon-and-lace beige bustier dress from the L.A. premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" was a style stunner or a fashion faux pas, but at least we can all agree that she's taking it off for a good cause! According to GossipCop, the actress has offered up her autographed Zuhair Murad gown to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort.

This isn't Kristen's first contribution on behalf of the recovery effort since the storm carved a path of destruction along much of the Jersey coast; her dressy donation comes in the wake of an appearance at the star-studded 12-12-12 benefit, where she made a speech to encourage support. And thanks to her latest contribution, the dress is being auctioned online at Charitybuzz as we speak, with proceeds to benefit the Robin Hood Foundation.

With a mere three months until the alien invasion, MTV News is doing its best to prepare you for all those parasitic Souls—think of our features as a survival guide of sorts. In addition to "The Host" trailer debut and interviews with Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons and Stephenie Meyer, we're rolling out an EXCLUSIVE chat with Diane Kruger, otherwise known as the nefarious Seeker.

Diane explained the Seeker's role in the post-apocalyptic society imagined in Stephenie's novel: "The Seekers in general, they're looking for the last pockets of human resistance. Practically the entire world has been taken over," she said. "My character is a little different. You come to understand that this Seeker, me, is a little off."

Something else Diane also considers a bit off? The Seeker's wardrobe, which is composed solely of eye-catching futuristic cuts in ivory.
