Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to mourn Gary Ross' passing...on directing the sequel to "The Hunger Games." Despite having taken on the first film in the series and turned it into a wild success, Gary issued a statement last night explaining that a tight production schedule and other pressing concerns would prevent him from helming the sequel "Catching Fire." And to that, we say...PFFFFFT.

Oops, sorry—that just slipped out! But really, we want to say THANKS. As in:

"The Hunger Games" is the box-office champion right now with its third consecutive weekend at No. 1. It continues to be a record-breaking success as the best spring-opener film and No. 3 on the list of best-opening-weekend films of all time. And if casting directors weren't taking notice of the film's actors before, they sure are now.

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson are in high demand. All three are only in the beginning phases of their huge careers, not to mention the success that's sure to come with "Hunger Games" sequels "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay." But what about the cast members who won't be returning to Panem—the unfortunate tributes who didn't make it out of the arena? Those actors are enjoying the success of the film by working hard on other projects! Here's what you have to look forward to from Glimmer, Thresh and Clove.

"Snow White and the Huntsman" doesn't hit theaters until June 1, but MTV News is giving you an EXCLUSIVE sneak peek at the wondrous wardrobe in the fairy-tale re-imagining, courtesy of Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood!

"I've seen actors find their characters in so many different ways in my life. I think they don't realize they've already found it, but the moment when they put on hair and makeup and the costume, they're there, they've arrived," said Colleen, who's worked on a number of high-profile projects including "Chicago," "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Alice in Wonderland." "Sometimes because the costume goes on last after hair and makeup and everything, that feels like the hero, but it's really the [actor]."

If you were able to tear your eyes away from "Crazy, Stupid, Love"'s Abs That Shall Not Be Named, you may have recognized a familiar reality T.V. face among the film's leads Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell and Julianne Moore. Namely, "America's Next Top Model" cycle 11 contestant Analeigh Tipton, who played a lovesick babysitter in the romantic comedy. Analeigh isn't the first Top Model to make the jump to acting (remember CariDee English's cameo on "One Tree Hill"?), but she may be the strutter with the most star potential. The beauty is back in theaters this weekend with "Damsels in Distress," about three college girls who set out to change the mores at their college.

Analeigh's growing fame is no surprise to "ANTM" creator and judge Tyra Banks, who noticed the model's acting chops years ago.

"She was third runner-up, I think. When the judges said it was time for her to go home, I told her she had an acting gift," Tyra told MTV News last year.

Amidst news that "The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross was in "tough negotiations" with Lionsgate regarding his contract for the sequel, "Catching Fire," The Playlist is reporting that the helmer has indeed dropped out of the project.

Though we're considering any report a rumor until Lionsgate confirms, we couldn't help but get a case of the sadz thinking that our beloved director may not return. What would this mean for the franchise? Who could fill his shoes? Will he accept a bribe from the Hollywood Crush staff? These are the questions writer Kat Rosenfield and I pondered in a thoroughly comprehensive IM discussion this afternoon. Please read our thoughts, and weigh in with your own in the comments section.

Amy: So, Kat, it appears Gary may not be returning to direct "Catching Fire." What's your knee-jerk reaction to the rumors?
Kat: I think it would be something along the lines of, NOOOOOOOOOOOO *tears shirt off and falls to the ground as it begins to rain.*
Amy: EPIC
So you're Team Ross.
Kat: I appreciate continuity in a franchise.
I think there's an unfortunate history here, where switching directors in mid-stream can make things disturbingly uneven.
Amy: Do you feel like that was the case with "Twilight" or "Harry Potter"? Read More...

When a movie trailer opens with the words, "From the studio that brought you '(500) Days of Summer'!" you just know that you're about to get a big, uncomfortable punch right in the feelings—and the first peek at upcoming film "Lola Versus" doesn't disappoint! Although this time, it's the hateably gorgeous Greta Gerwig (rather than fox-faced cutie-pie Joseph Gordon Levitt) who's getting her heart dragged through the gutters. And this time, the gutters in question are in New York, not California, which means that her heart is going to get extra-super filthy and possibly covered in hobo pee. Ewwwww.

The story: dumped by her boyfriend a mere three weeks before her wedding, Lola goes into a tailspin that sends her spiraling hilariously in the direction of Rock Bottom as she tries to cope with the reality of entering her 30s sans romantic attachment. And if you've been looking for a lady version of the "Summer" story, this one looks like it won't disappoint: the trailer delivers with a charming cast of quirky-supportive friends, hilariously un-comfy attempts at reentering the dating pool, and lots and lots of emotional eating!

We were getting a little nervous over the Jennifer Lawrence tug-of-war between Lionsgate, the studio behind "The Hunger Games," and 20th Century Fox, who called early dibs on Jennifer for the latest "X-Men" reboot. Two major studios fighting over one leading lady? Isn't that how the Trojan War started?!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like the animus between Fox and Lionsgate might be resolved: the former has announced its plans to begin filming an "X-Men" sequel in January 2013—which means that she'll have plenty of time to reprise her role as Katniss in the highly necessary "Hunger Games" sequel, "Catching Fire", before putting on her pretty blue sex-a-saurus suit to play the shapeshifting Mystique in "X-Men". (That sound you hear is "Hunger Games" fans everywhere breathing a giant sigh of relief—after all, we can only wait so long for the epic spectacle of the Quarter Quell!)

Shortly after Lauren Conrad released her New York Times best-selling novel "L.A. Candy," news broke that the former-MTV-star-turned-mogul would work with Temple Hill Entertainment partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (you know, the duo behind the "Twilight" films) to adapt her vision for the big screen.

In February 2010, as she was promoting her book, "Sweet Little Lies," she noted that the game plan was as such: "Actually, the movie is meant to be based on the story that's told over the three books that I'm writing—three books, one movie. It's a trilogy. It's one story being told over the three, so I think it's one overall story."

Well, with nearly two years since that interview, we just had to know if her story would ever make the leap to the movies. When we had the opportunity to speak to her about her spin-off, the aptly titled "Fame Game," she explained that things are still up in the air.

Finally, some more great photos of Kristen Stewart as a Kerouac muse! The official galleries on the "On the Road" website have been updated with behind-the-scenes shots and film stills alike, providing some highly anticipated sneak peekery at the upcoming film and some payoff for those of us who'd grown tired of scoping that one lonely photo of a sweaty-looking KStew dancing in her vintage duds. The photographers got up close and personal with the actress for three more beautiful pics (or, okay, more like two and one-third—let's be real, those could be anybody's legs sticking out of the driver's side door.)

Kristen is looking great in the movie's signature beatnik fashion (we're loving the button-front-and-saddleshoes look on her), and the new grab-bag of photos definitely throws a couple nods to the film's literary roots—you can see her clutching a copy of Proust's "Swann's Way," and another shot of Garrett Hedlund deep between the pages of an undetermined tome. Plus, there's Viggo Mortenson in his role as Old Bull Lee! And looking decidedly more sinister and far less hairy than we'd imagined him to be.

Have you been eagerly awaiting the first-ever peek at Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson in the upcoming action flick, "Savages," where the two studly dudes play a pair of highly educated drug dealers on a mission to save their shared girlfriend from a grisly death? Well, guess who's your new best friend! (HINT: IT'S US.)

Yep, we've got it: the first and EXCLUSIVE trailer for this explosive, bullet-riddled, extravagantly ass-kicking movie starring two serious hotties, one beautiful blonde and a deliciously evil Salma Hayek. And we recommend you watch it with plenty of padding and at least two safety restraints, because this is the kind of action-packed awesomeness that could make even the most staid viewer want to defenestrate herself.
