Beyond the big names like Death Cab for Cutie, Muse and Thom Yorke on the “New Moon” soundtrack, there are plenty of unfamiliar artists with songs on the album. Swedish pop singer Lykke Li is lucky enough to get track four on the CD with her song “Possibility.” Be jealous of her: she admitted on her Myspace blog that she like director Chris Weitz's brother Paul already got to see a cut of “New Moon” to inspire her to write a track for the album.

Like all the artists featured on the album, the song she recorded was unique to the film. But unlike the more established bands like The Killers and Bon Iver, Lykke has only been in the industry for about two years. Through sites like Myspace and YouTube, Lykke built up an audience in the United States when she made her second &8212; this time successful — trip across the Atlantic.

The effects of "Fame" are already being felt — literally and figuratively — for some of the stars of Friday's showstopping movie release. On the VH1 Diva's red carpet last week, Asher Book confirmed to MTV News that his boy band V Factory is about to release its second single, which will be feature a special sound: the powerful vocals of Asher's "Fame" costar Naturi Naughton.

The idea for the collaboration on the song, which is called "Get Up," began on the set of the upcoming musical. "We built the relationship and then afterward, you know, she just has such a phenomenal voice and we thought it would be cool to have a female vocalist on [the track] to see how that would sound, so it came out good," Asher recalls. As far as the rest of the V Factory album goes, Asher says it will probably be out around October or early November. "We're just trying to get the single out first," he adds. V Factory, be warned, we have a feeling your fan base is about to grow a lot bigger come this Friday when Asher struts his stuff on the big screen.

We originally thought the full track list for the “New Moon” soundtrack was going to be released on Friday, but we're still waiting in anticipation to see what songs are going to be filling up our iPods come October 20 when the album is released.

Death Cab for Cutie is the only band to have released a song from the soundtrack (listen to “Meet Me At The Equinox” here!) and today MTV UK announced Muse would be remixing one of their tracks for the album as well.

We’ve all watched the newest “New Moon” trailer, which debuted in extended form the Video Music Awards, at least 50 times and mapped out each scene to a particular part of the book, and for many of us, November 20th just can’t come soon enough.

The trailer already sends Twilighter's in a tizzy, but can you imagine actually being there to watch a scene come to life? Vanessa Seiger, 37, and Lisa Wilkins, 46, know it all too well. (I know ... I’m totally jealous too!)

The two entrepreneurs know exactly what it’s like to see Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the flesh, running around Italy as Bella and Edward, because they were lucky enough to get cast as extras in the heavily-anticipated flick!

It looks like 2010 may be the year of the sequels for the always-dashing actor Colin Firth. In addition to a rumored third Bridget Jones movie, Colin recently confirmed to Collider.com that a second "Mamma Mia!" may be dancing into theaters soon, though it's likely the flick won't feature any ABBA tunes this time around.

"Benny Andersson [ABBA member and 'Mamma Mia!' composer] was public— quoting what I read in a newspaper—but he said it’s not going to happen with ABBA," Colin explained. "We’re not using the back catalogue. He, I think, has other ambitions, probably. The main thing is they’ve used the songs you would need for that musical and using the rest of the catalogue… I don’t know, you’d have to ask him. From what I’m understanding, the people who do want to make it, are considering the possibility of using another band's music. Why not. But that’s speculation, I’ve got no insight on what will really happen." Read More...

Twilighters got their first taste of the "New Moon" soundtrack this past weekend as Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me On The Equinox" debuted on MTV.com during the racuous-as-ever Video Music Awards. And while we're eagerly anticipating tracks from Radiohead, Muse and Band of Skulls, one voice we won't be hearing on the sequel's album is Australian songstress Lee Safar.

Lee, who launched a grass-roots campaign earlier this year to include two of her songs—"I'm Here" and "Take Me Away"—on the soundtrack, has been advised by Summit that she will not be featured on the album. Lee fans should not storm the studio's offices just yet though, as she has been asked to submit a song for consideration on the follow-up "Eclipse" soundtrack.

The key to some of the best featured songs from huge movie soundtracks is that they stand apart from the film they are meant to represent. Think "My Heart Will Go On" from "Titanic" or "Decode" from "Twilight." Such is the case with Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me on the Equinox," the first single off the "New Moon" soundtrack, which debuted yesterday (press play above to hear it in its entirety) while the Video Music Awards aired.

For those of you who don't know, the official Dictionary.com definition of equinox is: "the time when the sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator, making night and day of approximately equal length all over the earth." Vampires can only come out during the night and humans spend most of their life during the day sounds surprisingly fitting for a vampire/human love story. Read More...

Like we said yesterday, the lyrics to the theme song for "Fame" are utterly infectious. Even we wanted to get up off our seat, jump on top of our desk and bust out with "Remember my name... FAME...!" after we watched the premiere of the music video just now. Of course, our officemates here who are currently working hard on the rest of VMA night might give us some odd looks, so instead of showing off some of (no doubt awesome) dance moves, we've decided to gift you with something even better: the full music video in all it's remixed glory.

Press play above to learn how to fly, and after the jump check out what a few of the movie's stars (including Naturi Naughton whose powerful vocals you heard throughout the song) had to say about the movie. Read More...
