Our friends over at the MTV Newsroom Blog have been reminiscing over some of the Video Music Awards' craziest moments in their 30 Days of VMA feature. And there sure have been some doozies! Remember Britney Spears writhing with a python to her hit "I'm a Slave 4 U"? Or the legendary Diana Ross grabbing Lil' Kim's breast? And who could possibly forget Kanye storming the stage during last year's show to declare that Beyonce deserved to win Best Female Video? Who knows what shenanigans will go down at this year's awards, but until then, tell us which VMA moment you think is the craziest so far. And, as always, if we forgot your favorite, let us know in the comments section.
It's a tough call who's going to win the Best New Artist Moonman at the VMAs this Sunday, but Selena Gomez already has her favorite picked out. The Disney darling is casting her vote for Justin Bieber! The two young stars have been friends for a while now, but that's not the only reason she's rooting for The Biebs.
"I think he deserves it!" she told MTV News when we caught up with her yesterday. "I think he's worked really hard. I think he works harder than a lot of people I know, so he deserves it."
One of the moments we are most looking forward to at Sunday's Video Music Awards is when the cast of "Glee" walk out onto the stage and present one of the night's many awards. But maybe we should have been a little more specific when we said "cast," because some of the, uh, older stars on the show are pretty peeved they didn't get an invite.
Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley and Jane Lynch are all going to be at the show, but when MTV News caught up with some of their fellow cast members at "Glee"'s season two premiere earlier this week, a couple stars tried to bum tickets off of us!
It's pretty rare that a single guest list would boast both Snooki and Kanye West. Or Eminem and Selena Gomez. But unexpected pairings seem to be the specialty of MTV's Video Music Awards (remember RuPaul and Milton Berle?). When the lights go up at the Nokia Theatre this Sunday at 9/8C for the VMAs, Hollywood's hottest will be in attendance to fete the year's achievements in music and...videos. We've already hyped some of the presenters and performers we're stoked about, but we want to know what you think! Who are you most excited to see during Sunday's broadcast? Vote in our poll after the jump (see a complete list of presenters/performers at MTV.com). And, as always, if we forgot your fave, give him/her a shoutout in the comments section.
If you've ever wanted to walk a mile in your favorite stars' shoes, well, we've got the next best thing for you: walking a few inches on the carpet they sauntered across. Yes, that's right, MTV is giving away pieces of the white carpet from Sunday's 2010 Video Music Awards. Just think of the well-shod feet that will be shuffling over this temporarily pristine ivory walkway: Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, B.o.B., Katy Perry, Rihanna and more!
We have 10 squares of carpet to giveaway each day leading up to the big event. Click over to the MTV News Facebook page to enter. If you're already a fan of the page, look for the VMA Giveaway tab for more info. If you're not yet a fan of the page, just click "like" to get all the details you need. Good luck!
If you haven't already, now is about time to start getting pumped for Sunday night's 2010 Video Music Awards. The show goes live at 9 PM ET, and we can definitely feel the excitement rolling across the country from Los Angeles, where the awards ceremony is being held.
The list of presenters continues to grow, with a handful of the "Glee" cast signing on, including Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley and (!!!) Jane Lynch, and we're sure a couple more will surprise us day of. But those aren't the only hotties that will be gracing the VMAs stage. Continue reading after the jump to see what other Hollywood faves will be presenting!
When Justin Bieber playfully paraded around with reality star Kim Kardashian for a "Graduate"-inspired Elle photoshoot, he didn't just break the hearts of 13-year-olds everywhere. No, he left one 35-year-old looking for Somebody (else) To Love.
When MTV's Jim Cantiello caught up with comedian and VMA host Chelsea Handler to chat about her duties for the Sept. 12 ceremony, talk inevitably turned to the awkward run-in she'll likely have with the 16-year-old singing sensation. If you've ever watched Chelsea's late night E! talk show "Chelsea Lately," you know she and The Biebs (who's been on the show multiple times), have some palpable chemistry. In fact, Justin even asked her out on a date! But apparently, Justin has a wondering eye.
When MTV started checking out potential hosts for this year's rock-tastic 2010 VMAs, there were three important criteria that any candidate had to meet:
1. The candidate must be funny, engaging, and have great stage presence.
2. The candidate must be able to tell jokes so scandalous that they could actually cause someone's grandma to spontaneously catch fire.
3. The candidate must be able to take down Kanye in under 3 seconds if he starts rushing the stage to perpetrate a rehash of last year's tomfoolery.
Naturally, the obvious and ideal choice was Chelsea Handler.

What do Justin Bieber and B.o.B have in common? Well, they’re both Eminem fans. They both are nominated for Moonmen. And now, both artists will perform at the 2010 VMAs on September 12, joining the likes of Kanye West, Drake and Florence and the Machine.
Music’s most outrageous night isn’t all surprises, see? In terms of other VMA plans recently locked down, four-time nominee Ke$ha and “Twilight” star Ashley Greene will present at the show, airing live from the Nokia Theatre in L.A..

For the deepest Justin Bieber beliebers, the new VMA promo — warning that the Biebs “will induce hysteria” – isn’t telling them anything they don’t already know. But the 1950s themed teaser, starring the Best New Artist VMA nominee himself, is unique in drawing its inspiration from another hysteria-inducing pop act: The Beatles.
“I’m kind of like the Beatles running, and there’s girls chasing after me,” Justin told MTV News about the “Hard Day’s Night”-style TV spot.
Seeing as he gets chased, say, three to five times a day, acting skills were not required. “Everything’s been going pretty smooth,” Justin said of the shoot. “I like girls chasing me, so it’s good.”
