With so much excitement about Kiera Cass' "The Selection" getting optioned for television, we'd almost forgotten that all this advance buzz is based on a book—a book which is not even published yet! But now, there's no mistaking the literary origins of this dystopian romantic drama about a young woman torn between her humble roots (and the boy back home who loves her) and her new status as National Prize Bachelorette (chosen by a handsome prince, who also loves her)...especially not when we have the EXCLUSIVE book trailer right here!

Even though we already know just what's going on in "The Selection," this trailer is still an exciting tease: Protagonist America Singer narrates her doubts and dreams in voiceover, as a dozen glammed-up girls in evening gowns await the arrival of a be-suited blond gentleman who can only be Prince Maxon. (Unless it's Peter Facinelli? Is it just us, or does that man bears an uncanny resemblance to the slicked-back blondness of one Carlyle Cullen when viewed from the back?) He opens the door, the ladies stand at attention, and he tosses the winner's tiara to... IT'S A MYSTERY!

"Girls" is not for the faint of heart. It’s not for the naive. And it’s certainly not for anyone who has never had a profound and life-changing conversation entirely via Gchat.

Of course if you've ever cracked a rape joke during a job interview or regrettably over-shared in a tweet, then it's totally your speed.

Either way, we want to make sure you're ready to handle this gritty yet comedic new HBO series brought to you by "Bridesmaids" producer Judd Apatow and breakout writer-director-actress Lena Dunham. The series chronicles the misadventures of 24-year-old Hannah Horvath (played by Lena) and three of her friends (Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet) as they come of age in New York City—and all the sex, angst and fear-Googling of crazy medical problems that comes with it.

So here are a five things you should do before watching "Girls" to get the most out of the experience.

We imagine that as soon as Amy Heckerling pitched "Vamps" as "'Clueless’ with vampires," movie studio execs were sold. Because when we caught up with the film’s star, “Don’t Trust The B---- In Apt 23” actress Krysten Ritter, and she described the film as just that, we were even more pumped for its release.

“I haven’t seen it yet, so I have no idea [what fans should expect],” she explained adding that it was the beloved director that sold her on joining the project. “Amy Heckerling is an idol of mine. I’ve always looked up to her and admired and adored her so it was really fun to get to work with her.”

You know, acting is hard work. Sure, we see paparazzi photos of thespians sipping Starbucks while on a sunny stroll, or shopping at Chanel, YSL and Louis Vuitton. But when they're not being hounded by photographers on their days off, they're putting in countless hours on the job like the rest of us. Just ask "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton.

That doesn't really sound like fun to us. It sounds more like he's live-tweeting an alien abduction. Or maybe Madame Tussauds decided they want a Draco Malfoy wax figure? That would explain the plaster casting. The British actor is currently filming a movie called "Therese Raquin" where he plays a ghost, so it could have something to do with that. Although, we don't think anyone ever painted Casper. Your guess is as good as ours.

Plate those lemon squares and grab your Kindle because we are calling the inaugural meeting of Hollywood Crush's Celebrity Book Club to order. Welcome to our new lit-focused feature, where each week or so we'll politely hound your favorite stars for the contents of their reading lists. (Note: This is a no-judgment zone—all books are accepted!)

What better way to kick off our premiere post than with a young author herself: Miss Lauren Conrad? We caught up with the former "Hills" star recently while she toured the country to promote her brand-new novel "The Fame Game."

So what book is tucked into LC's carry-on?

"The book that I'm currently reading is the second 'Hunger Games' book, which is so unoriginal. I'm sure everyone on Earth is reading that right now because of the movie," she said. "The author does such a good job telling the story. It just sucks you in."

The news that J.K. Rowling signed with Little, Brown for her first post-"Harry Potter" novel left fans with many burning questions: What is it about? What will it be called? When can we read it? Well, today, we have those answers.

Five years after the book release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows," J.K. and her publisher announced today that the novel is titled "The Casual Vacancy" and will be released on September 27, 2012. The book's described as "blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising." And while that sounds like it would be in the vein of our favorite sorcerer, the synopsis for the novel suggests otherwise.

We might have bid a fond farewell to Gary Ross this week, but that didn't stop fans everywhere from jumping right into the debate about which available auteur might be brave, bold, and capable enough to take up the "Hunger Games" mantle for films two and three. And now, the L.A. Times is reporting on Lionsgate's list of maybes—a list which, and we are not kidding, should make even the most staunch Gary Ross loyalist squee in their fan-pants a little.

The short list of names being tossed around includes such biggies as David Cronenberg (pictured; otherwise known as the man behind the best movie ever to feature Jeff Goldblum turning into a housefly), Alejandro González Iñárritu (the master behind the darkness-embracing delights of "21 Grams" and "Babel"), and even Alfonso Cuaron, who made what is arguably one of the best films in the entirety of the Harry Potter franchise when he helmed "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

Jemima KirkeThis is the story of four girlfriends, picked to live in Brooklyn and have their lives (and loves) taped, to find out what happens when women stop buying Manolos and start getting real.

Yes, this is the (mostly) real world...according to Lena Dunham, the brains behind HBO's buzzy new series "Girls." Co-starring Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet, the show focuses on the trials and tribulations of living and loving in New York City—without the glitzy trappings of that other sexy city series. In anticipation of Sunday's premiere, we're introducing you to the fresh female faces of "Girls," and today, Jemima is the one to watch.

Vampires? So over. Zombies? So almost-over. But witches! Ah, WITCHES: now there's a supernatural group that's due for its day in the sun, and it looks like Sony Pictures agrees.

Deadline reports that the studio is getting ready to move forward on a cinematic reboot of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," the magically-abled young lady who first cast her spell as a character in mid-century Archie comics but, who most of us know best as the titular gal played by Melissa Joan Hart (who rivaled the human stars of "Sesame Street" in her abilities to act convincingly opposite a talking puppet.)

Among the updates made to the new "Sabrina" film: a more romantic backstory (and, please God, some better visual effects) for the talking black cat, a superhero-style take on Sabrina herself and, of course, a brand-new teenage actress to take on the witchy starring role. (But tell us this: Will they include an '80s-style rap-off between a guy in pegged jeans and his spellbound crush? Because if not, WE WANT NO PART OF IT.) So, which leading lady might be best-suited to carry the broomstick when this film goes into production? We've got three promising picks!

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

For those keeping track of the swinging single antics of one Joe Jonas, consider this a sign that the pop star is once again off the market: Joe made his first appearance this week with girlfriend Jessica Pott, the Brazilian model and first confirmed Jonas romance since he split with Ashley Greene last spring. The pair strolled through New York's SoHo neighborhood on a cool spring day this week, marking the first time they've been out in public since the rumors of a romance between the two began swirling back in December.

Of course, Joe's ladyhopping ways are common knowledge (in fact, this isn't the first time he's been Spotted! with a new-minted girlfriend right here on Hollywood Crush), so those of you keeping careful tabs on the singer's love life are probably wondering: How serious is this relationship? Because on one hand, the two don't look all that lovey-dovey—there's no hand-holding or cozy canoodling going on in the paparazzi snapshots of the pair's afternoon outing. But on the other hand...well, let's put it this way: would you wear that hat in front of someone whose affections you weren't 100 percent sure of?
