Could "The Notebook" musical be one step closer to a Broadway production?
Thanks to a newly released track from last October's workshop of the play, written by "One Tree Hill" star Bethany Joy Galeotti and music producer Ron Aniello, you can judge for yourself.
Bethany released the song as a reward for her Twitter followers, who successfully raised more than $2000 in one day for the charity Love146. The tune's called "Troublesome Tongue" and features Noah's dad and pals explaining Noah's childhood stutter to new love Allie (played by Bethany, who reminds us a little of Rachel McAdams' long-lost TV star sister—meaning she seems perfect for the role).
So how does the track sound?

After a practically spoiler-free summer, news about "One Tree Hill"'s eighth season is finally starting to trickle out. We couldn't be happier! Today's "OTH" news update includes three (three!!!) big scoops about the series.
First up: more deets on the "Life Unexpected"/"OTH" crossover episode. Joining Haley and Mia at Cate and Ryan's radio station concert will be musicians Sarah MacLachlan and Ben Lee. Perfect, we think—they're exactly the right kind of folky pop that Bethany Joy Galeotti does so well, so Haley will fit right in to that lineup. Plus, as our friends at Zap2It reminded us, Haley chose a MacLachlan song the first time she performed for her now-hubby.

Apparently, the stork is paying a visit to one of our favorite CW stars both on her show and in real life too.
It’s baby number two for Haley Scott on “One Tree Hill” — as you’ll recall from the season 7 finale, Haley told Nathan she was preggers and that she thinks it’ll be a girl — but it will be the first real-life bundle of joy for actress Bethany Joy Galeotti.
Though there hasn’t been an official announcement, E! is reporting that Bethany is expecting her first child with her husband of five years, Michael Galeotti.

Thanks to an interview yesterday on the fan-produced “One Tree Hill” Podcast, we have a lot more deets on “OTH” star Bethany Joy Galeotti's “The Notebook” musical. The show, which Bethany wrote with record producer Ron Aniello, is based on Nicholas Sparks' 2004 tearjerker.
Bethany said during the podcast that after seeing Nick Cassavetes' film and subsequently reading Sparks' book, she found herself singing songs around her house based on the story's characters. After six weeks, she decided to finally put it down on paper. “I thought, 'This is either going to be terrible, or it's going to be great. I don't know which it's going to be, but I've gotta get this out,'” she said. "It's an amazing story, an American classic, that [I] wanted to do something original with." Thanks to a friend who knew Sparks, she got the author's blessing to write the musical.

Duke wasn't bluffing when he told Allie their love could do anything. It seems that now includes immortalizing their story on the stage. The 2004 Nicholas Sparks weeper that made stars out of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams may be Broadway bound.
Casting begins next month for a Wilmington, NC-based workshop of a musical version of "The Notebook," produced by "One Tree Hill" actress Bethany Joy Galeotti and musician Ron Aniello, with the intention of eventually moving the production to New York City. Read more...
