Even as she has continued to overcome prejudice and earn the respect of her instructors, including Hogwarts Headmistress Minerva McGonagall and the school's newly installed Potions Master Horace Slughorn, one subject has continued to confound her — the affection of Ron Weasley.

Since neither of her parents had magic abilities, Hermione learned at the relatively late age of 11 that she was a witch and subsequently received an invitation to attend Hogwarts.
