"Dangerous Liaisons" had one of the steamiest endings of any episode in "The Vampire Diaries"' fiery history.
And before Damon and Rebekah (!) ripped each others' clothes off, there were huge dramatic developments in the show's central love triangle, a twisted Cinderella story for Caroline and the revelation of some magical matricide in the making. On Wednesday, executive producer and show-runner Julie Plec spilled much about what happened, what it all means and where it's going to Hollywood Crush and a handful of journalists immediately following a private screening at The CW in Burbank, California, which we can tell you about now.
For starters, what the heck is Elena going to say when she finds out about Damon's tryst with the sexy blonde Original who tried to kill her just a few scenes before? "I think Elena is going to be pissed on multiple levels but also understand that, in a way, she also sort of pulled the trigger on that," Julie explained. "The thing with Damon is, as we've seen, when he's hurt, he lashes out. And in a way this is both the most cruel way he could have lashed out but also shows a peculiar evolution in him as a character because rather than take it out on an innocent human in the middle of a road he's striking where it hurts most, probably, very specifically at Elena.

We never take this job for granted. No matter how many times Hollywood Crush gets invited to screen an episode "The Vampire Diaries" a day early on The CW lot, followed by a juicy Q&A with passionate, articulate and always engaging show-runner Julie Plec (and sometimes, a few cast-members), it never gets old. And tonight's "Dangerous Liaisons" is one of the steamiest episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" in history (complete with a brand new hookup) while alternately one of the series most mythology-rich episodes, balancing the ever-deepening story of the Originals against the backdrop of the burning love triangle long at the show's center.
I mean, we could keep going to these screenings at least as long as most of the Originals were locked in those caskets.

Saint Stefan is dead! Long live bad-boy, Originals hang-around, "ripper" Stefan!
With so many revelations in last night's brilliantly constructed and altogether thrilling season three stunner, "The End of the Affair," the central love triangle that is the driving engine behind "The Vampire Diaries" shifted in a major way.
Hollywood Crush and a small handful of television reporters were invited to a Q&A session with passionate and clever executive producer Julie Plec, who dished about all of the thrills and chills in the third episode of the third season. The revelation of why Klaus wants Stefan around; the introduction of another Original with blood ties to Klaus and a romantic past with Stefan; Stefan's secret Chicago lair and creepily recorded body count; Stefan's brutal sendoff of Elena…

Maybe they should rename the show "The Stefan Diaries!"
Tonight's "Vampire Diaries" episode spills revelation after revelation which drive this season's arc forward as we journey to Chicago during the roaring '20s, where Stefan (in a tux!) may have smooched a lady or two roughly a hundred years before he enrolled in Elena Gilbert's high school. There's some present day shenanigans in the Windy City, too, as Damon and Elena track Stefan and Klaus thanks to a certain source with her own agenda.
We also get guest star Claire Holt ("Pretty Little Liars") but to explain too much about that would spoil some major fun. Let's just say that fans of "retconning" (retroactive continuity) and origin-rich explorations are in for some serious treats. How this show manages to ramp up the romantic love triangles and steamy sex appeal while satiating the appetites of comic-book weaned, book devouring genre fans boggles the mind.

If you thought Vicki's return to the "The Vampire Diaries" was going to be a peaceful one, guess again. While death may have tamed her, Casper the Friendly Ghost she most certainly is not.
Yesterday we caught up with Vicki's real-life alter ego Kayla Ewell to chat about her guest appearance on "The Glades" (airing Sunday at 10 p.m./ 9 C on A&E) and talk inevitably turned to our favorite CW series and, more specifically, how Vicki has changed since joining the after-life and how her return will affect Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen).
"Did death reform her? Of course it did. But it didn’t change her completely," Kayla said. "I’m still going to be a little bit of the trouble-maker, and I kind of just don’t know any other way to be."

"Vampire Diaries" fans, get ready to meet a character who’s about to out-bad Klaus!
Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Sebastian Roche, who you might know best as Balthazar on “Supernatural” or Jerry Jax on "General Hospital" (or maybe that last one’s just us...), is headed to town this fall as a "mysterious vampire hunter," who even has our favorite hybrid biting his claws.
"For some reason, Klaus, who shouldn’t be afraid of anybody, seems to be concerned about this person," Julie Plec told EW. While the details on this new character are still sparse, fans can expect to see him pop-up somewhere within the first half of the season.

Between jetting off to awards shows, filming "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" and gearing up for season three of "The Vampire Diaries" in September, there's no question that Nina Dobrev has a lot on her plate. But is it too much?
We caught up with Nina at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards post party earlier this month—where we found her unwinding with "TVD" executive producer Julie Plec and co-stars Steven R. McQueen and Kayla Ewell—to get the scoop on how she manages her workload and whether, after two seasons, it's still exciting to slip into the roles of Elena and Katherine.
"It's definitely fun still," Nina said (feel free to let out that sigh of relief!). The 22-year-old, however, shared that since the show is so fast paced, she sometimes fears they might run out of twists and turns for the viewers. (Confession: We've totally been afraid of that too!) "I wonder when we're going to burn out and when there won't be anymore story to tell," she said.
Luckily, that's where scribe Julie comes in.

Yesterday, The CW gave us good reason to pull out our calendars when they announced the highly anticipated (at least by us!) fall premiere dates for their roster of shows, including "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Secret Circle" (September 15 for both in case you're curious!). Well, now we've got some more notable dates to add.
Warner Bros. announced today that stars from "TVD," "The Secret Circle" and more will be taking part in this year's San Diego Comic-Con, which runs July 21-24 (in other words, book your tickets now).

The sophomore season of The CW's "Vampire Diaries" was full of the requisite twists and turns we've come to expect, but executive producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec even outdid themselves with the closing moments of "As I Lay Dying."
Yes, we are indeed referring to the shocking, astounding, out-of-nowhere return of Jeremy's dead vampire girlfriends, Anna and Vicki. (It wasn't our No. 1 most OMG! moment for nothing!) Of course, the minute the closing credits rolled, we knew we had to call up Hollywood Crush BFF Malese Jow to dish about what we had just seen. BECAUSE ANNA IS BACK! Here's what the actress had to say about the big reveal, "TVD"'s "Bachelor" connection and Steven R. McQueen's ever-increasing adorableness.

It's clear there are two types of "Vampire Diaries" fans: Those who want to see Elena end up with stable, lovable boyfriend Stefan, and those who want to see her with his bad-boy brother Damon. And after last week's surprising season finale, it looks like Delena shippers might just get their wish.
When we sat down with star Nina Dobrev a few weeks ago, we asked you, our loyal Hollywood Crush readers for your best burning questions. In light of recent events, one seemed particularly timely: What qualities does Damon bring out of Elena and what qualities does Stefan bring out of Elena?
"Damon brings a lot of worry out of Elena," Nina said. "Damon shows up and she just tenses up because something is going to happen. It's like a countdown to 30 seconds and someone is going to die. With Stefan, whenever he's around she's just—it's almost like she melts into his arms and she feels somewhat relieved. But at the same time when you think about it, whenever the two of them are around, that means there's a little bit of trouble."
