Its always hard growing up in front of the camera, but with a godfather like Steven Spielberg, life gets a little easier. Drew Barrymore, who got her start acting at 11 months old in a TV commercial, is now an acclaimed actress, producer and, with today's release of "Whip It!," a director as well.
Click on the photo below to see how Drew has transformed from a "Little Girl Lost" to a kick-butt filmmaker. Then, keep reading for more on her rise to fame after the jump.

Drew Barrymore and her "Whip It" gang dumped the skates and ditched the elbow pads for the premiere of their coming-of-age roller-derby flick last night in L.A. (That isn't to say there weren't a few Hurl Scout-clad gals rolling around the red carpet at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Nice touch, Miss Barrymore.)
Drew captured a bit of her alter ego's rocker chick vibe (Smashley Simpson would be proud!) in her form-fitting L'Wren Scott dress, accented nicely by red peep-toe pumps. It's not surprising the 34-year-old Hollywood vet's directorial debut brought out some big hitters, including her godfather and "E.T." director Steven Spielberg.

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
In June, we mentioned that we thought Justin Long was having a bit of a bad influence over Drew Barrymore's fairly questionable taste in clothes at the time, but now we're back to embracing the on-again, off-again couple thanks to new pictures of them from the set of their upcoming rom com, "Going the Distance." Click below to see the duo smooch and tackle each other during a round of football in Central Park.
While the former "He's Just Not That Into You" costars got down and dirty in Central Park, "America's Next Top Model" host and media mogul Tyra Banks was preparing for her cameo in an Oct.5 episode of "Gossip Girl" nearby. Unfortunately, we couldn't see what inevitably fabulous outfit she had on underneath her robe, but knowing her, it's sure to be fierce. Check out the picture after the jump. Read more...
Though Charlie Day isn't comfortable declaring himself the breakout star of FX's "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" it can't hurt his cause that he's been cast in an upcoming romantic comedy with some of Hollywood's heavy hitters. As we mentioned yesterday, the 33-year-old is set to star alongside Drew Barrymore, Justin Long and Christina Applegate in "Going the Distance," which begins filming in New York in August. We caught up with the "Sunny" star and co-creator to chat about his long-time acquaintance Justin and what we can expect from his cinematic turn.
Charlie's role as Justin's pal isn't that much of a stretch for the actor; he and Justin have known each other for more than a decade. "I’ve known Justin Long for a while," he told MTV News. "I think around ’97, ’98, ’99, we were doing theater at place called the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Western Massachusetts. He was always a funny guy, and I bump into him here and there and it’s always good to see him. So I’m really excited to finally actually get to work with him. I’m looking forward to riffing and seeing what we can do with a few of these scenes." Read more...
Christina Applegate will officially be able to say, Samantha ... who? as of today. The Hollywood Reporter announced that the star of the recently canceled ABC sitcom would be joining Drew Barrymore and Justin Long in a new rom com, "Going the Distance."
Charlie Day, who stars in and helped create "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," has also been cast in the new flick, which is about a couple (Drew and Justin) trying to keep their long-distance relationship alive. Christina will play Drew's sister and Charlie Justin's best pal. Read more...
Though Drew Barrymore and her "He's Just Not That Into You" co-star Justin Long have yet to confirm a rekindled romance, it's safe to assume from PDA-plentiful pics that the two are an item once again. But these photos also reveal a more troubling development: Getting back together with Justin may have altered Drew's typically adorable fashion sense.
Admittedly, the 34-year-old has always been a bit of a risk-taker with fashion. In the early '90s Drew mastered the grungy, baby-doll-dress wearing, Courtney Love vibe, but by the early '00s the wild child's look had evolved into grown-up boho chic. And we loved it. Lately, though, the starlet's look has gone a bit wayward. After the jump, we detail a few of her more surprising choices. Read more...
