"The Art of Getting By" is all about New York City kids on the cusp of adulthood. It's centered around slacker high school senior George (played by Freddie Highmore), the object of his affection, Sally (played by Emma Roberts) and her older artist beau, Dustin (played by Michael Angarano).

When the cast sat down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz on Tuesday night at the Pacific Design Center for Sneak Peek Week leading up to the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, they revealed that they could totally relate to George's lack of interest in all things high school.

"Just terrible! So hard!" Elizabeth Reaser explained of her high school experience. "And so great because there's no real responsibility. I got one credit my freshman year."

Emma recalled a very different kind of high school experience. "I was homeschooled, so I kind of crashed all my friends' school functions like proms and football games and stuff, and that was enough for me," she joked. "I can't imagine having to go everyday. I'm sure I missed lots and lots of torture from people."

Memorial Day weekend may mark the unofficial start of summer, but the summer movie season is already under way. We couldn't be more excited about this since there's a slew of flicks coming soon that we're super-excited to see.

We here at MTV wanted to make the wait for some of summer's most anticipated films a little less excruciating. While we count down to the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, we're going to treat movie buffs like you to sneak peeks of this season's hits-to-be, including "The Help," "The Art of Getting By," "Fright Night," "30 Minutes or Less" and "Horrible Bosses."

Better yet, some of the cast and crew from these films will be on hand to present the never-before-seen footage and will sit down for a Q&A sesh with our own Josh Horowitz. Starting on Monday, May 30 until Friday, June 3, a new clip from one of these flicks will debut on MTV. The chats with the stars will stream live on MTV.com immediately afterward, and you can participate by tweeting your questions to @MTVNews using the hashtag #spw. In other words, don't make too many evening plans next week!

If you simply know English actor Freddie Highmore as the pint-sized musical prodigy from "August Rush" (or even Charlie in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"), prepare to meet the grown-up, leading-man-in-training Freddie in the upcoming "The Art of Getting By" (formerly called "Homework").

Freddie stars as lost soul/high school slacker George, a budding artist who's made it all the way to his senior year without ever completing a homework assignment (hence the film's title). When he's finally put on academic probation, he agrees to be mentored by Michael Angarano's character Dustin. Along the way, George strikes up an unlikely friendship with popular girl Sally, played by Emma Roberts.

If our EXCLUSIVE trailer is any indication, the dynamic among these three characters is not nearly as simple as the film's synopsis would lead us to believe. It's obvious George likes Sally. We're pretty sure Sally likes George. George doesn't make a move. So Dustin does. On Sally. Sally seems into it. George is nonplussed. In short, what we have here is a messy love triangle (our favorite kind!). Though we have no idea how this film ends, that final smoldering stare and slight smooch-friendly lean-in bodes well for Sally and George. (Sorry, Dustin.)

Click play on the clip above to witness all the romantic entanglement angst for yourself!

"The Art of Getting By" opens in limited release June 17.

Is it just us, or is Uma Thurman trying to get in with Kristen Stewart? The "Kill Bill" actress already blipped on "Twilight" fans' radars when she filmed the steamy, sex-filled period drama "Bel Ami" with Robert Pattinson, and now Cinematical just debuted a smoochy poster for her film "Ceremony," in which she stars opposite Kristen's ex-boyfriend Michael Angarano.

Maybe she's just a "Twilight Saga" fan? After all, "Ceremony" also stars "Breaking Dawn" newcomer (and adorable "Pushing Daisies" star) Lee Pace.

In "Ceremony," Michael plays a man set to rekindle a romance with his former flame (Uma) who just happens to be engaged to someone else (Lee). By contrast, Rob's character in "Bel Ami" uses his wealthy mistress (Uma) to help him rise from rags to riches in late 19th century Paris. We love how Uma has turned into such a cougar, considering she's 16 and 17 years older than Rob and Michael, respectively.

Of course, with more than 200 films showing at the event, it can often be tricky to find the hidden gems (a.k.a. "Little Miss Sunshine"). That's where we come in.

To help you navigate the sheer number of movies, we parsed through the listings to find the six that are definitely worth keeping on the radar. Check out our list after the jump!

MTV News is packing up its parka and long underwear for a trip to the movies. Yep, that's right. We're headed to the snowy climes of Park City, Utah, for the annual Sundance Film Festival, which kicks off this Thursday. More than 100 films will vie for top honors at the cinematic extravaganza, meaning we'll be glued to our multiplex seats for the entire 10-day fest.

One celluloid gem in contention is Gavin Wiesen's coming-of-age tale "Homework," starring Freddie Highmore, Emma Roberts, Michael Angarano, Elizabeth Reaser and Alicia Silverstone. And guess what! We have an EXCLUSIVE clip just for you!

"Homework" stars Freddie (whom you may remember in his pint-sized form from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory") as high school student George, a lonely soul who's somehow made it to his senior year without ever having completed an assignment (if only you were around a few years ago, George, we could have used your secrets!). George soon strikes up an unlikely friendship with popular girl Sally (Emma) after they bond over their dysfunctional families. With his academic future in question, George agrees to have 25-year-old Dustin (played by Michael) mentor him. Dustin and Sally begin to bring George out of his shell, but as you might suspect, this story doesn't end without a little drama.

Isn't it nice to know that the Cullen brood supports each other both onscreen and off? When MTV sat down with Nikki Reed to chat about her upcoming film, "Last Day of Summer," she was quick to talk about how excited she was about all of her costars' current projects as well.

When asked which of her fellow "Twilight Saga" stars' work she was most looking forward to, she answered, "I guess all of them… I don't know! We all root for each other," before delving into each of their current film projects, surprising herself with her ability to remember everyone's movie names and costars.

So, at the Miss Universe pageant last week the "2010 Michael Jackson" Heidi Montag made her big pop star debut when she sang her single, "Body Language." (We were able to snag pictures of her rehearsing in the days before the event, which took place at the Bahamas' Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island) It seemed to leave everyone talking, including her friends Kristen Cavallari and Stephanie Pratt who were quite impressed with Heidi's Britney-Spears-like performance. Although there have been no public statements yet, after KStew and RPattz' "cozy" Kings of Leon concert "date," it seems Kristen and longtime boyfriend Michael Angarano are definitely over. The two, who met in 2004 on the set of Sundance film "Speak," and later started dating, were spotted in Vancouver near the "New Moon" set in April, but since then it has been a summer of Bella and Edward. Kristen even joked to USA Today in April that she thought it would make the "Twilight" fans happy and her more popular if she dated Rob.

It looks like Mikey is getting cast aside like Jacob in this scenario, but don't feel too bad for Brooklyn boy yet. We doubt the 21-year-old indie star of movies like "Lords of Dogtown" (which, oddly enough, happened to be directed by Catherine Hardwicke and costarred Nikki Reed) and "Snow Angels" will be lonely for too long. He has a new movie, "Gentlemen Broncos" (don't miss the trailer for that comedy), opening at the end of October and he will be starring in Jason Reitman's "Ceremony." Until then, you can get your fill of Michael — and check out more photos of him and his maybe-ex — by clicking on the photo below. Just be sure to keep an eye on who Kristen shows up to the VMAs with this year! (That is, if she actually shows up. We can only hope!)
