"New Moon" has now earned it's place in box office history — as the movie with the third-biggest opening weekend of all time (with $140.7 million and still going). It's obvious to us (as it has been!) that this franchise has thus earned a permemant place in your hearts.

We've kind of been getting a bit of "Twilight" fever over here at MTV (can you blame us?) and in turn it made us ask ourselves: what would the world look like if the characters in the movies took over every facet of entertainment? Alas our Total "Twilight" Takeover photo gallery was born. When you click on the photo of Robert Pattinson as — yes! — the King of Pop and Taylor Lautner as — yes! — Michelangelo's David (that bod is not far off from Jacob's, right?) below, you'll be transformed into a alternate universe where Esme dances to "Party in the U.S.A.," Bella rides a motorcycle...with Kristin Cavallari, and Jane attends classes with Rachel and Finn!

Crushers, where in your mind could you see the cast of "New Moon" fitting in in pop culture?

After attending last night's star-studded New York City "New Moon" premiere, Taylor Lautner was up bright and early (or perhaps he stayed awake all night like his shapeshifting alter ego?) to hit the morning show circuit. First up was a "Today" show one-on-one with Matt Lauer (uh — now we kind of want to know why all four "Today" anchors were in on Kristen Stewart's interview?), where the host worked in one of the sneakiest segues I've ever seen. After asking whether friends and family keep Taylor grounded, Matt cautiously brought up another of Taylor's "friends," Miss Taylor Swift. "How's that going?" he asked, mentioning he'd seen the country star's shoutout to He-Taylor on "SNL."

"She's great. She's a great girl," Taylor said with a big grin. "I was definitely blushing when that happened."

"So you didn't expect it?" Matt asked. "No, it was a surprise," Taylor answered.

In addition to the usual fandemonium/weight gain conversation, Matt also managed to throw in another question likely to send fangirls into a tizzy, asking Taylor about his almost constant shirtlessness in the sequel. "Yeah, it was a little awkward just because we were flming in Vancouver in March. So it's snowing for the whole first month, and I'm the only one wearing the little jean shorts," Taylor replied.

Last night, the stars of the month (or should it be year by now?), the cast of "New Moon," took their place in the New York City spotlight by attending the Cinema Society and D&G screening of the movie at the Landmark Sunshine Theater. It was originally supposed to be a "secret" event (is there really such a thing with the "Twilight" franchise anymore?), but plenty of faces from Manhattan's "elite" circles (um, hi, Ivanka Trump) were still there to support the Saga.

Just looking at the photos above (and the ones from the rest of the evening), it seems as though Kristen Stewart was somehow left off the memo that instructed attendees to "please only wear black or shades of cream tonight." Though she did show up to the carpet in a black Burberry trench coat, she eventually took it off to reveal an olive green Valentino dress. We adore the silhouette and the girly frills, but we're not super keen on the color for the actress, who looks a little washed out in it (her eyes, however, look stunning). As for Kristen's boys, both Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner chose sleek black Dolce & Gabbana suits, with Rob's, of course, sans tie and unbuttoned at the top.

After months of filming in rain-drenched Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, "New Moon" stars Nikki Reed and Kellan Lutz must have felt right at home in Manhattan as a persistent drizzle lingered over the city. But unlike shoots for their vampire romance, the onscreen duo stayed toasty and dry inside the Times Square Toys "R" Us greeting fans and signing autographs for the final leg of the "Twilight" mall tour.

About 500 lovely ladies and a few fellows (not a surprising ratio by now) waited for hours in a line that snaked around the block, with some like Julianne Castillo and Vanesa Rayes, both 18 from Jamaica, Queens, having been outside since before 6 a.m.

"We got up at four o'clcok in the morning. We were outside by 5:30 in the morning," Julianne said. "We want to be the first ones on line. That's when all the excitement is there from the actors. We want to have the energy on that paper."

If there's one place vampires, werewolves and humans can co-exist peacefully, it's surely the red carpet. Love triangles, team alliances and centuries-old pacts were put aside last night to celebrate the long-awaited premiere of "New Moon" at LA's Westwood village theater. (Did you read our live blog throughout the night?) Though fans lined up for hours to get a glimpse of their favorite "Twilight" stars, we've got a fashion rundown you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home—sans earplugs.

A lot has changed for the Saga's stars since last year's premiere, including their wardrobe. Kristen Stewart eschewed her mini-dress of yore, opting instead for a floor-grazing, gray-stitched gown by Oscar De La Renta. But in signature Kristen-fashion she funked it up by adding a few bangles, smokey eyes and a messy, half up-do. Kristen's onscreen love Robert Pattinson looked every inch the movie star in a black Gucci suit, with a soft yet still-slightly tousled haircut and his token stubble.

11:10 That's a wrap, folks. Thanks for joining us on our journey to the "New Moon"!

11:08 The crowd is chanting "TAYLOR! TAYLOR! TAYLOR!" as the carpet winds to a close.

11:07 Taylor is wearing Calvin Klein. Kristen is wearing Oscar de la Renta.

11:06 Taylor is telling Larry he's "sticking to the diet and trying to get into the gym as much as possible," but it's been hard with everything going on lately.

11:05 Kristen confirmed what Joan told us, by the way, that she is definitely doing her own singing in "The Runaways" movie.

11:04 "We put a lot of hard work into this film, and I'm dying for it to come out!" SO ARE WE TAYLOR!

11:03 Kristen was chattier than usual. What's the best thing about being her? She says she knows she'll never get to experience anything like this (pointing to the fans) no matter what kind of movies she's in. "Definitely this is the coolest thing."

11:01 Kristen is talking to Larry about how great it is to have Taylor here after all the questions about whether he'd return. "I'm so proud of him ... I think he's the most centered of anybody here."

11:00 Here she is! Wait... she's taking pictures with those three sneaky fans!

10:58 A security guard is checking their credentials... again!

10:57 Meanwhile, Taylor is taking pictures with three sneaky young fans who somehow have credentials.

10:57 She was headed our way but then her folks realized she passed E!. She was almost to our platform then redirected with an about-face to our neighbors.

10:56 An excited and hurried publicist just ran over and asked, "Will you guys be ready for Kristen?" HECK YEAH!!!!!

10:52 Kellan just walked by with his arm around a fan wearing a "Nutz For Lutz" t-shirt. Pretty sure he pulled her out of the crowd!

10:51 We can see Kristen! Gorgeously porcelain.

10:48 Yup, It looks like Taylor is getting closer.

10:45 It's quiet at our end of the carpet as we wait for Kristen and Taylor!

10:39 Adam Shankman is telling Larry about his involvement in the movie version of the "Rock Of Ages" musical, which was just announced in the trades.

10:35 Robert is wearing Gucci, by the way. Wherever he is now.

10:33 And he's gone! Dragged away by a publicist as quickly as he arrived.

10:32 What's the best part about being Robert Pattinson? He laughs and thinks for a minute. "I couldn't really tell you," he says with his wide smile. What's the worst part? "You've got to work every single day." Which he hasn't gotten used to.

Seriously, we weren't kidding earlier when we said we can't keep up with all the delectable photos coming our way! Moments ago we received a brand new crop of "New Moon" photos from Summit, and while we can't help but think, "Uh, are there actually moments we haven't yet seen?" (you know, with all the stills previously released before these), we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves digging into a ton of new goodies.

For instance: The Cullen clan looking quite pretty (especially Esme)! Bella's school buddies paling around! The Wolf Pack .... with shirts on! (OK fine, that last one didn't really deserve the exclamation point, but still...) Chris Weitz peeking into a video camera! Oh my!

Click on the photo below to see them all, and check back with us throughout the weekend for all things "Twilight"!

Over the past couple of weeks, MTV in-house "Twilight" expert Larry Carroll posted a series of interviews he did with the cast of "New Moon." Today the lucky guy is off interviewing the stars again (we will have more for you on that later!) but to try to make sense of the madness, we at Hollywood Crush have decided to pick our five favorite questions from his interviews for your reading pleasure. Sorry Billy Burke — you didn't quite make the cut!

KELLAN LUTZ

Q: What is the one question that you hope you never get asked again in an interview?

Kellan: Do I wear boxers or briefs? I think it's such a funny one, and there's always someone and they're usually older than 50 who asks that question.

The holy Trinity of "Twilight" (Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner) aren't the only "New Moon" stars heating up magazine pages this month. The sequel's second couple, Rosalie Hale and Emmett Cullen (also known as Nikki Reed and Kellan Lutz), posed for some fiercely fashionable shots in Nylon, dishing to the magazine about the Saga's unexpected success, how "Twilight" has changed their lives (think: disguises!) and cast switcheroos.

"We were just making a little independent film in Portland," Nikki said of the movie that changed her life. “I don’t know what happened. We’ve lived this entire year in shock.” But along with the Saga's staggering success has come constant fan and paparazzi attention, something Kellan goes to great lengths to avoid.

In addition to more screen time to spend with Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, "New Moon" is bringing two big, new developments with it to theaters on November 20: the Volturi and the Quileute wolf pack.

For Nikki Reed, who plays good vampire Rosalie Hale in the film, the wolf pack is her favorite new addition.

"They bring a very obvious warmth. To see people actually interacting and wrestling and touching each other and rolling around in the mud and being a bunch of boys? That was a nice addition," she said.
