Nicholas Sparks is a man after my own heart. I love that he speaks directly to all of us hopeless romantics out there. He fills books with dreamy fairy tales that a majority of women swoon over, enabling us to openly and endlessly bask our Kleenex for the first time since the iconic romantic dramas of the 1940s like “Casablanca" (sure "Titantic"made us weep buckets, too, but we'll put that under the romantic action drama category for now). Six of his novels have also made it onto the big screen, a commemorative feat in and of itself (those movies include: "The Notebook," "Message in a Bottle," "A Walk to Remember, "Nights in Rodanthe," "Dear John" and “The Last Song”), and a seventh, "The Lucky One," is currently listed on his website as in development.

So, in order to pay full tribute to one of my heroes as "Dear John" has finally made its way into theaters — in its opening weekend, after all, the Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried flick already wrote off reigning champ "Avatar" at the box office — I've decided to assess how this man has changed our world.

Are you ready for some football, Crushers?! This Sunday the New Orleans Saints will face off against the Indianapolis Colts for Super Bowl XLIV. But before all the action starts, we wanted to indulge in some of our favorite hotties in movies and television to ever throw a pigskin around. So, follow with us as we score the all-time best in gridiron guys — they make us wish every day was a game day.

Paul Walker in "Varsity Blues"

James Van Der Beek may have been the star of this Texas high school football melodrama (he didn't want your life!), but it was Paul Walker as injured quarterback Lance Harbor that made us want to take up sports medicine and help the hottie lick his wounds. Figuratively, of course.

Over the past six seasons, "The Office" has had a number of great guest stars that would be hard—that's what she said—to beat. We're thinking of folks like Oscar-nominee Amy Ryan and bombshell Jessica Alba, who made a memorable cameo in a boot-legged video alongside Jack Black. But when we heard that Golden Globe host and series creator Ricky Gervais' dream guest star was Ryan Gosling, well, we nearly melted. Now if only Ryan were game. When we caught up with the 29-year-old while promoting his new flick "Blue Valentine" at the Sundance Film Festival, we just had to ask.

"I love it. He's my hero," Ryan said regarding Ricky and the proposed cameo. "He was like, 'Yeah, I think Ryan would be the perfect guy to play a total psycho, to go into his office and kill everybody," he added with a laugh. "Yeah, anytime. He's the best."

For most of the women in America, getting a chance to do a steamy sex scene with Ryan Gosling would be a dream come true. When you had the opportunity to screen your film before hundreds of your peers, you'd relish the opportunity to rub in their face that you got naked with the male half of the best Valentine's Day movie ever: "The Notebook." But Michelle Williams, who got to live the dream in the Sundance film "Blue Valentine," did the exact opposite. In fact, she didn't even sit in on the Sundance screening.

"When the movie screened the other day, me and the kid [4-year-old daughter Matilda], neither of us were old enough to watch that movie," she said with a smile. "So we colored in Tinker Bell pictures for two hours and played pirate games."

If you caught our sneak peek clip last week of Ryan Gosling nearly jumping off a bridge in his and Michelle Williams' latest film "Blue Valentine," you know it's some heavy stuff. The film, which debuted Sunday at the Sundance Film Festival, finds Ryan and Michelle playing a young couple who try to salvage their failing marriage by stealing away to a theme hotel. Their love story is then replayed through multiple time periods. When MTV News caught up with the playful pair, however, it became obvious that not everything about "Blue Valentine" is as super serious as we had expected.

If you've ever wondered what Michelle's hidden talent is, apparently it is reciting all of the presidents' names, in order, by memory. When MTV's Josh Horowitz asked how it came about, costar Ryan joked, "She just did that. No one knew she was going to do that." After a little cajoling, Michelle agreed to sing the presidents for us. Click play on the clip below to above all 44 commanders-in-chief. And yes, Michelle, we do think this earns you a spot in Dead Man's Bones.

What do you think of Michelle's singing skills?

It's hard to believe it's been more than two years since Oscar- nominated actor Ryan Gosling last graced the silver screen in "Lars and the Real Girl."Thankfully, Ryan fans don't have to wait much longer as his latest film costarring Michelle Williams debuts this month at the Sundance Film Festival.

The romantic drama "Blue Valentine" tells the story of married couple Cindy (Michelle) and Dean (Ryan) who, in an attempt to save their marriage, steal away to a theme hotel, where they relive their entire love story from beginning to tumultuous present. In our exclusive clip below, Dean tries to get Cindy to reveal why she's upset while the two are out for a stroll across a New York City bridge. When Cindy won't divulge her feelings, Dean goes to extreme measures to elicit a response. It's heavy stuff, for sure, but with two Oscar nominees at the wheel, we know we're in good hands.

Stay tuned to MTV News and Hollywood Crush for more coverage of the Sundance Film Festival from Park City, Utah!

In the past few years, a quiet yet remarkably talented actress by the name of Rachel McAdams has worked her way to the silver screen, and now she's also made her way to the cover of Vogue. Posing in a flower printed red Dolce & Gabbana dress and matching red stilettos, the “Sherlock Holmes” star graces the January 2010 issue. In the mag, which hits stands on December 22, the actress talks working with Lindsay Lohan, her fascination with soap operas and much more.

In 2004, Rachel's career jump-started when she starred in “Mean Girls” playing queen bee Regina George alongside Lindsay. “I just remember marveling about how much [Lindsay] knew as an actor, how much she understood," Rachel recalled. "She did very few takes and had this naturalness to her. And beyond that, I was 26 at the time. I’d be asked, ‘Where do you go out?'"

Just as everyone has an opinion, a favorite meal and a nose — albeit a fake one at times — so too does everyone have a birthday... even celebrities. After all, it's cheaper than mailing a cake!

Leonardo DiCaprio (November 11): We've sure come a long way from the days of "Titanic" and "Romeo + Juliet," haven't we? Since those movies, former teenage heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio has gone on to star in Oscar-winning fare such as "The Departed," even earning an Oscar nomination himself for his role as a South African mercenary in "Blood Diamond."

All the single lads would have been wise to head down to New York City cabaret (Le) Poisson Rouge last night, as hundreds of pretty young things queued up in the freezing rain for the sold-out Dead Man's Bones concert. We're betting the preponderance of chicas had something to do with the fact that one-half of the gothic folk band is Oscar-nominated (and oh-so swoonworthy) actor Ryan Gosling. In fact, I was surprised I didn't spy even one clandestine copy of "The Notebook" peeking out of a purse, begging for an autograph.

The sleek Greenwich Village club was a fitting location for the kooky, spooky show. The red and blue-lit space lent an intimate feel, while a haunted house backdrop complete with twinkling lights upped the festive vibe. In lieu of an opening act, the boys invited local performers to participate in a talent show — though freak show would have perhaps been more fitting verbiage. There was Amazing Amy, a 54-year-old contortionist, who, though she had two torn rotator cuffs and a hip replacement, folded her body into a pretzel with the ease of a nubile 22-year-old yogi. There was a baroque opera singing duo dressed like characters out of "Arabian Nights." There was a double jointed fellow who did a funny little jig, tossing around a red hat. A guy who made sound effects on a Yamaha keyboard (a dubious talent at best). And then there was the Vocaholic acapella group from New York University whose take on M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" (including bang-bang and cha-ching sound effects) was slightly genius (take note, "Glee").

Then came what the crowd of eager, googly eyed women were waiting for: Ryan and partner Zach Shields took the stage, clad in matching black-vest-white-button-up ensembles.
