FROM SPLASH PAGE: From Anna Paquin's history with "X-Men" to Stephen Moyer's upcoming turn in "Priest" — not to mention Alexander Skarsgård's near-miss with "Thor" — the cast of "True Blood" is starting to realize that as cool as vampires are, nothing beats the comic book scene.
Now, it appears that Ryan Kwanten — who plays the dim-witted Jason Stackhouse on the HBO vampire drama — is getting in on the action, as Moviehole reports that the Australian-born actor is shooting a superhero romantic comedy in Sydney titled "Griff the Invisible."

When we heard last month that "True Blood" hottie Mehcad Brooks had been cast as a lawyer on ABC's midseason replacement "The Deep End," we wondered whether his character Eggs would be scrambled by Maryann. Well, we were partially right. The 28-year-old fell victim to a bullet in the season finale, though it was at the hands of well-meaning Jason Stackhouse.
As sad as we are to see Mehcad (and his abs) depart "True Blood," we're sure gal pal Tara Thornton is even more torn up. MTV News caught up with the actress who portrays prickly Tara (Rutina Wesley) at the premiere of Jude Law's "Hamlet" (read our rundown of hot Hamlets here), and she talked about what's next for Tara.
"I'm sure she's going to have some grieving to do, losing Maryann and Eggs—the love of her life, I think," Rutina theorized. "I don't know how Tara is really going to react to that. I see some grief. I see some more darkness."

Forget Sam Merlotte, forget Bill Compton, even forget — dare I say it? — Eric Northman! All of those guys are fine in their own right (and heck, we've even come up with a way to figure out which is your type), but when it comes to the crush-worthy heroes (and anti-heroes) of "True Blood," there's perhaps no one more overlooked than Sookie Stackhouse's very own brother, Jason.
No, Jason doesn't turn into a dog to get out of hairy situations. He doesn't have fangs either. And, fine ... he hasn't lived for a thousand years. But what Jason lacks in supernatural ability, he makes up for in unbelievable entertainment value.
After the jump, check out the five reasons why I think Stackhouse should be nominated as The Man of "True Blood"! Read more...
The tiny Louisiana town at the heart of HBO's hot series "True Blood" seems to be suffering from an embarrassment of riches. For such a small hamlet, Bon Temps has a disproportionate number of fine-looking men. Not that we're complaining. In fact, we've often wished we could jump through the TV screen and roam the bogs and swamps of Alan Ball's fictional world just to rub elbows, shoulders, bulging biceps (you get the drift) with its comely inhabitants. And with so many suitors to chose from, it's hard to pick just one. Which is why we've developed this handy guide to deciding once and for all which Bon Temps man suits you best. After you've found your perfect match, take a look through our entire hunkilicious flipbook to drool over all the dreamy men of "True Blood." We probably don't have to say this but ... enjoy! HBO's "True Blood" is a fangtastic drama that also happens to be quite funny. Its humor is often subtle, nearly imperceptible like a throbbing vein beneath the flesh of an unsuspecting human. It can be found in the nuanced body language of its stars (Eric's sly smirk while Sookie sucks his blood) and in its whip-smart writing (Andy Bellefleur to Lafayette: "You didn't go on a gay cruise! If you did, you'd come back with more pizzazz, not less!").
But last night's return to Bon Temps brought arguably the most overtly hilarious moment of the entire series, courtesy of surprisingly clever Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten). Read more...
This season of HBO's titillating vampire series "True Blood" has been more addictive than a shot of V, wouldn't you agree? So it's a pretty big bummer that there are only three episodes left of the fangtastic second season.
Now that the Fellowship of the Son/vampire war has been diffused (for now, we think) and Eric's wept over his departed maker (R.I.P. Godric), the gang is headed back to Bon Temps where one hell of a mess awaits thanks to she-devil Maryann. But if you can't wait until Sunday to sink your teeth into the next episode, we've got a sneak peek sure to temper your thirst...for now. Read more...
Bon Temps has seen a lot of changes during the second season of "True Blood." Jason left town to bunk at Jesus camp. Sam has a potential love interest in fellow shapeshifter Daphne. And orgies are all the rage thanks to mysterious Maryann. But one of the best additions to the small Louisiana town has got to be newborn vampire Jessica, played by Deborah Ann Woll.
The 24-year-old Brooklyn native spoke with H Magazine(see her full cover after the jump) about preparing to play Jessica, on-set antics and her favorite horror flicks. Read more...
It's as predictable as a vampire's thirst for human blood. Each year a more-than-deserving series is left out in the cold come Emmy nominations time. The glaring omission that had me seeing red this year is HBO's much-talked-about vampire series, "True Blood." Sure, they picked up a few Creative Arts (or "Schmemmys" as Kathy Griffin calls them) nominations in art direction, title design and casting, but no "Big Show" nods to speak of. Oh, the bloody horror! We at Hollywood Crush are obviously fans of the show and in protest of the series' snub we've compiled a list of the five reasons the show deserved to be nominated (the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences — we hope you're paying attention!).
1. It's the highest rated show on HBO
The second season premiere of "True Blood" garnered 3.7 million viewers, the network's highest rating since the "Sopranos" finale two years ago. The show even bested itself this week soaring to 3.9 million blood-thirsty watchers. Yet, its HBO brother "Entourage," a show which rambles through the same predictable plot arc each season, gets a nomination for "Outstanding Comedy Series." Read more...
