Gerard Butler wants all of you to know that the reason he signed on to do "The Bounty Hunter" was not because it starred a hot lady (Jennifer Aniston) or because it had a love story, it's because he really wanted to go on an adventure. "At that point, I didn't have an interest in doing a straight up rom com," he recalled of being cast. "I wanted to make a movie that I would go and see. It's really a guy's movie as well."

A guys movie, really? Please enlighten us. "There's romance in it, but it's definitely first and foremost an action comedy," he explained to Hollywood Crush. "That's what was so appealing about it. It felt like it was a throwback to a lot of those great 80s comedies — 'Midnight Run,' 'Lethal Weapon,' 'Beverly Hills Cop' — where there's a great mixture of all of those things."

After watching "The Ugly Truth," most viewers might be under the misconception that Katherine Heigl’s cool exterior throughout the movie was strong enough to withstand Gerard Butler’s usually winning charm. But in this exclusive behind-the-scenes blooper reel from the DVD and Blu-ray release (out tomorrow), you are able to catch a glimpse of the "Grey's" doc with her guard down, and even laughing with her costar! The sound of Kat’s laughter is actually a very rare thing in this movie, and viewers hardly can imagine this character enjoying any conversation with Gerard.

His character on the other hand, enjoys every conversation he has with any lady over the course of the movie, which is a characteristic that Gerard shares with his on-screen counter part. The Scottish actor, after all, is notorious for his womanizing behaviors (most recently he was reportedly seen kissing Lindsay Lohan). Watch Gerard do what he does best, work it with the ladies, in the below clip!

If you decide to drag your boyfriend out to "The Ugly Truth" this weekend and he uses the argument that it's just another chick flick, then you can just tell him that the film's male star, Gerard Butler, actually thinks this is more a guy's film than anything else.

He says that his character, Mike, a chauvinistic TV host, brings enough raunch to the table (and to Katherine Heigl's character's life) that the guys are sure to love his dirty advice on how to attract guys, which he says, "always touches on something that has an element of truth." Press play above to hear more what Mr. Butler has to say and keep reading more about his male-oriented opinions after the jump.

Katherine Heigl was pretty uptight in "Knocked Up." And she's not any less uptight in her new flick, "The Ugly Truth." In the new rom com, opening today, she plays uber-uptight TV producer Abby, who finds herself challenged to find love by her chauvinistic on-air correspondent played by Gerard Butler. What a challenge, indeed! But according to Katherine herself she thinks she might be getting very uptight in real life thanks to her work in these flicks.

"Yes it was fun," she told MTV News at the junket for "The Ugly Truth." "Unfortunately, I think I'm starting to take a little bit of my roles with me in my real life cause I'm playing a lot of uptight control freak women lately and I'm becoming one. I'm really relating, but yeah it was really fun to play and her absolute cluelessness on how to approach men and how to win a guy over."

Ugly truthBy Haley Murphy

“The Ugly Truth” opens today, and we can’t wait to see what kinds of pointers Gerard Butler has in store for how to land the "perfect" male specimen. Although Katherine Heigl is naturally gorgeous — especially as a a cover girl — Gerard’s character Mike decides to tell her the ugly truth about her non-existent love life. As Gerard teaches Katherine’s character how to find love based on his somewhat outlandish theories (yeah...guys like girls to have hair they can "pull on"), it reminds us of a few other movies where helpful instruction leads to infatuation. You know, when the “teacher” becomes the student, and the love guru sometimes forgets how to play his own game! Read more...

Gerard ButlerI think it’s safe to say that nowhere on Earth could Gerard Butler be considered an ugly man. The Scottish heartthrob has been steadily working his way into the spotlight for years with roles in “Timeline” and “The Phantom of the Opera.”  But it was his role as the ripped and skimpily clad King Leonidas in “300” that really made everyone sit up and pay attention. Since “300” he’s embraced his romantic side and opted to make girls cry in “P.S. I Love You,” and wince with “The Ugly Truth.”

While Gerard Butler is the perfect heartthrob we all dream about, his “Ugly Truth” character Mike Chadway is the one we usually meet in real life. In order to balance the scales, and bring the hunky Scot back down to earth, after the jump, we look back on his ugliest roles to date: Read more...

Movie premiere or "Grey's Anatomy" reunion? How about a bit of both. Several of Seattle Grace's finest were on call last night to help co-star Katherine Heigl celebrate the premiere of her romantic comedy, "The Ugly Truth," which opens July 24.

Star Katherine (below with director Robert Luketic and co-star Gerard Butler) glowed on the red carpet, sporting a newly dyed auburn 'do, a neck full of pearl baubles by David Yurman and Joan Hornig and a taupe tulle dress by Lanvin. Casual cool appeared to be the dress code for Katherine's "Ugly" male co-stars Gerard and Eric Winter who were twinsies in matching suit-sans-tie ensembles and open-collared shirts. Click on the photo below to see more from the "Ugly" (yet, still glam!) red carpet last night and keep reading for more on the fashions after the jump.

Katherine HeiglBy Sandra Segura

“The Ugly Truth” star, Katherine Heigl, really glams up the cover of InStyle magazine's August issue in a Roberto Cavalli gown. Not only does she keep it real with readers about her personality and style, she also gives us some words of advice when it comes to the real world.

When asked about celebrity stylists, Katherine had a simple answer: "I want to look in the mirror and go, 'I feel like the best version of myself." Katherine also lets us know that she’s not holding her tongue for anybody because in the end, it’s crazy to not be honest with yourself just because you’re worried about what someone else might think. "Preposterous" is definitely the perfect word of choice for her to use in that instance! Read more...
