The Secret CircleFor the last week of the summer season, and our last official Summer Beach Read, we're looking back to look forward. "The Vampire Diaries" author L.J. Smith published "The Secret Circle" in 1992, and in two weeks, the witchy tale joins "The Vampire Diaries" on The CW.

Like "TVD," the books are part of Alloy Entertainment's brilliant master plan to develop YA novels ripe for TV adaptation, and like "TVD" the show is co-created by Kevin Williamson. And also like the earlier adaptation, the plot is altered drastically for the show, but the key ingredients remain intact: a group of very relatable characters (with some very special traits) and a creepy mood designed to keep you awake at night.

We'll have plenty more on The CW's "Secret Circle," starring Britt Robertson, leading up to the September 15 premiere. But in the meantime, you can enter the slightly different world that inspired it.

Gossip GirlHate those two-month breaks the CW has in the middle of every season? Well, fortunately the network has done something about them.

Turns out that four of our favorite CW shows have received extra episodes this coming season to make the wait a little shorter (and less painful). Deadline has learned that "Gossip Girl" and "90210" are each getting two extra episodes this season, while "Nikita" and "Supernatural" each get one. The intent is to bring the rerun periods in the middle of the seasons -- typically from the end of November to the beginning of January -- to a minimum as much as possible.

Yes, we also noticed "The Vampire Diaries" is missing from that list, but Deadline has a good explanation.

Oscar-Schmoscar. Golden Globes-Schmolden...Globes? Whatever cutesy way you want to put it, the "traditional" awards shows have passed, but the summer is bringing some ceremonies that hit a little closer to home (or at least our hearts): The Teen Choice Awards are upon us! The nominations are out, which means it's time to get your vote on and push your favorites to victory—especially if they were snubbed at previous awards shows (*cough* HarryPotter *cough*).

"Eclipse" shockingly leads the nominations with 12 (including multiple noms in some cases, like Choice Actor: Sci-Fi/Fantasy). Close behind are other obvious faves like "Glee," "The Vampire Diaries" and Taylor Swift.

Let's take a look at some of the most crush-worthy face-offs:

If, at the end of every episode of "The Vampire Diaries," you find yourself thinking, "One hour a week is just not enough," there's at least a partial cure in the works. "The Secret Circle," based on the trilogy by "Vampire Diaries" scribe L.J. Smith, has received a series order from The CW, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For the uninitiated, "Secret Circle" centers on a girl who moves to a new town and learns that she's A) a witch and B) kind of central to an epic good vs. evil battle. You know, no big.

"Life Unexpected"'s Britt Robertson will star in the series (and we're so happy to see her returning to The CW—we missed her sass after "Life's" unexpected demise) and much of the production team behind "The Vampire Diaries" will be working on the series (including co-creator Kevin Williamson). Considering what a great job Kevin has done with "TVD," we could not be more excited to hear that he's the driving force behind "Secret Circle." Does this mean witches are the new vampires? Do werewolves have some supernatural competition for that title now?

After breakaway success with his documentary "Never Say Never," Justin Bieber is in talks to return to the big screen—this time opposite Ashton Kutcher. According to the Los Angeles Times, "What Would Kenny Do?" is a buddy comedy in which Justin would play the 17-year-old version of Ashton's character. If the project goes forward, it probably won't hit theaters for a while (Justin is touring through 2012), so we here at Hollywood Crush thought we'd pass the time with a little daydreaming about other stars we'd love to see team up for some quality time.

What kinds of movies might some of our favorites team to make? We take a look (by which, of course, we mean "completely fabricate") at some possible upcoming box office hits.

We here at Hollywood Crush spend a lot of time on Twitter (it's sort of tough to stay away when the likes of Ryan Gosling, James Franco and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are hanging around on the Twitterverse!). So when Time magazine put out their list of the 140 Best Twitter feeds, we couldn't wait to see which celebrity tweeters we know, love and follow made the cut.

While we were psyched to see some of our favorites like Taylor Swift, Neil Patrick Harris, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Conan O'Brien, Mindy Kaling, Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres, we couldn't help but notice some glaring omissions.

Check out five of our favorite tweeters who were inexplicably left off the list after the jump!

Things could be worse for Nina Dobrev. As the star of one of The CW's hottest series, "The Vampire Diaries," she's forced to suffer through long hours of shooting opposite dreamy co-stars like Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder. While this may seem like a dream to most (read: me), to the grounded starlet, it's all in a day's work, and at this point in her career she doesn't have much time for anything else. "By the time I get home, memorize the next day's work, brush my teeth, remove all the makeup, and shower to get the blood off...and then I have to be back at work in seven hours," she said. "I can only do so much." Teen Vogue's April cover girl opens up about life on the "Vampire Diaries"' set, including the stress of playing two characters and the likelihood she'll one day date a costar.

"When I signed on to the show, I didn't know whether I'd be playing both girls," said the 22-year-old who first caught our eye as teen-mom-turned-model Mia on "Degrassi: The Next Generation." "And while it's been cool, it's also exhausting because it's double the work. You invest so much of your heart and soul and energy into making even one character. It's like doing two movies at once." Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and raised in Toronto, Nina equates juggling her two characters—good girl Elena and evil vampiress Katherine—with her overloaded schedule while attending a competitive performing arts high school. "I wanted to be the jock, and I wanted to be a dancer and actress," she said. "I was also a gymnast and very academically driven. I always had a lot on my plate and was really overwhelmed. Not much has changed—I'm constantly trying to one-up myself and raising the stakes."

When "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez tweeted that "Milwaukee had some of the best talent" she wasn't kidding. But J. Lo definitely didn't warn followers that in addition to being wowed by "AI" hopefuls, they'd also be bawling their eyes out (case in point, "Lost" actress Rebecca Mader who posted, "American Idol Auditions made me cry!!!") Those tears were flowing from inspiring contestant Chris Medina, who covered The Script's "Breakeven," a moment so touching the band's guitarist Mark Sheehan took to their Twitter to write, "Chris Medina: Not only R U a major talent but U R 1 in a billion! Stay Strong,Never waver,This world needs more MEN like U. Peace+Love."

Speaking of teary-eyed television (though these will most certainly be tears of joy for viewers), "The Vampire Diaries" finally makes its return tonight. Star Ian Somerhalder (pictured) spilled, "New episode of Vampire Diaries tonight! Finally... I hear it's good and damon cries- I thought boys don't cry."

Check out the rest of Thursday's best celebrity tweets and find out which "Parks and Recreation" star joined Twitter and who is headed to the set of "Hawaii Five-0"! Follow us @hollywoodcrush to get even more celebrity and pop culture news around the clock!

The Hollywood Foreign Press has released its list of nominees for the 2011 Golden Globes, and we're pleased that so many of our favorites got some recognition. So congrats Ryan Gosling, Anne Hathaway, Matthew Morrison, Emma Stone, and everyone else who got nominated; we've been rooting for you the whole time! But still, we couldn't help feel like there was one supernatural fanged creature that got snubbed this year. Where are all of our favorite vampires?

It's not too much of a stretch to have expected at least "True Blood" to be on the list. Anna Paquin won Best Actress back in 2009 and was nominated in 2010, and the show received Best Drama noms the past two years, as well. But this year it was booted from the list by the likes of "Boardwalk Empire" and "The Walking Dead," and consistent awards show favorites "Dexter," "Mad Men" and "The Good Wife." And none of the "True Blood" actors earned any recognition for their consistently awesome performances throughout the third season.

But "True Blood" wasn't the only vampire series up for contention that was ignored in this year's Globes nominations. "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" also got the cold shoulder. What does this mean for the vampire fad as we know it?!

This week's "A Very Glee Christmas" not only got us in the holiday spirit, but it made us glad we didn't have anyone like Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) for Secret Santa! While we wouldn't mind buying for Jane herself, we got to thinking about other celebs whose names we would like to draw for the holiday tradition. Not only would you have the thrill of buying for you favorite stars, but you'd have to get super-creative with a $50 budget. Here's a list of famous faces we'd gladly hit the malls for (and what we might buy them):

Robert Pattinson: Since our undying love is free, we'd have to think of some other things to get RPattz. His "Water For Elephants" co-star Reese Witherspoon recently likened Rob to a "Titanic"-era Leonardo DiCaprio, so perhaps a DVD of the Oscar-winning classic would be a nice addition to his collection. We'll also throw some bronzer (with no shimmer) in there for when "Breaking Dawn" wraps filming!
