While most films are getting a well-deserved pat on the back right about now, a few of our favorite cinematic vampires are being taken down a peg. The Razzie nominations were announced today, and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" tied with "The Last Airbender" for the most nominations at nine a piece.
Unsurprisingly (based on previous Razzie nominations), "Eclipse" was nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, and the actors didn't get off the hook either. Kristen Stewart was nominated for Worst Actress, both Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner were nominated for Worst Actor (also getting nods for their other 2010 films), Jackson Rathbone got a Worst Supporting Actor nod for "The Last Airbender" and "Eclipse," and the entire cast was nominated as Worst Screen Couple/Worst Screen Ensemble.

The next few weeks are big ones in the world of music and movie releases—particularly for the Blu-Ray and DVD markets hoping to capitalize on all the holiday shopping happening. Personally, I'm a big fan of DVD/Blu-Rays as gifts. They make great stocking stuffers, and they're perfect for last-minute occasions! But I digress...all this talk of DVD releases is to remind all you Crushers that today's big release is the other vampire-centric movie of the year, "Vampires Suck." To celebrate this excellent occasion, we have an EXCLUSIVE clip for your viewing and LOLing pleasure.
In this scene, "Becca Crane" gets a self defense lesson from her father. I'd like to point out here how funny I find the leading characters' names to be. Those who've seen the film already know, but Becca Crane? Come on, that's funny! Her last name is a bird too! Like "Twilight" leading lady Bella Swan. So pun-ny. And Edward Sullen? Jacob White? I love it. Anyway, in the clip, Becca's dunderheaded dad announces to his daughter that a body was discovered drained of all its blood, full of bite marks, so there is a killer on the loose.

OK OK, we get it already, many people are sick of vampires. They sit there hoping the fad will pass, just like they hope M. Night Shyamalan will never direct another film and Michael Cera has stopped trying to perfect awkward (Jesse Eisenberg so does it better… yes, they are different people).
But did the creators of all those terrible spoof movies really have to make a film called "Vampires Suck," hot off the heels of last year's "Transylmania"? At least that one targeted the vampire fan specifically, but "Vampires Suck" takes a genre that should be easy to mock (like there aren’t enough vampires in pop culture?) and muddles it with jabs at "Jersey Shore," Lady Gaga and "Alice in Wonderland." Please connect those dots for us more than "they all were popular this year."
Maybe if they decided to mock some things that deserved to be mocked but aren't, people might stop sighing as spoof movie trailers pop up in theaters as well. Here are our suggestions.

Besides the fact that he's basically twinsies with Taylor Lautner, Chris Riggi will certainly leave "Twilight" fans and non-"Twilight" fans in stitches as the antithesis of the Jacob Black character, Jacob White, in this week's big release "Vampires Suck." We love a guy who can make us laugh (and who looks good without a shirt on), so Chris has the honor of being this week's Hump Day Hottie.
Press play on the video below to see more of Chris, and then keep reading for more details about him!
Vital Stats: The 24-year-old is a born-and-bred New Yorker, who will turn 25 this September. What better way to kick off another quarter of life than by being this week's Hump Day Hottie?

Well, "The Twilight Saga," I guess it's a sign that you've made it when an entire movie is created to spoof just you. Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the guys who directed "Date Movie," "Epic Movie," "Disaster Movie" and "Meet the Spartans" (and wrote the "Scary Movie" franchise) are now taking aim at sparkly vampires in their upcoming "Vampires Suck," due out August 18.
Based on the trailer for the film, it looks like they at least did their research enough to watch all the trailers and clips of the first three films that hit the Internet. "This summer, the most extraordinary story of our generation bites the big one," they promise about the movie, describing themselves as "the guys who couldn't sit through another vampire movie." Umm, didn't they hear this movie was already made months ago? Read more...
