The release of the new Vanessa-Hudgens-starring flick "Beastly" is more than eight months away, but we learned from Summit Entertainment that its never too early to start advertising your sure-to-be-a-teen-hit. This week, the 21 second (actually, more like 16 second!) teaser trailer hit the Internet, but we're not so sure how we feel about it yet.
"This is my story," Alex Pettyfer says in his voiceover, "and this is my curse. Who am I? I'm you. Your ugliness, inside out."

It's been an interesting year for "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus. In February, the 16-year-old was sued for "racist" photos that depicted the teen star slanting her eyes, mocking Asians. She raised eyebrows again in August when she performed a pseudo-pole dance atop an ice cream cart at the Teen Choice Awards. Then there was that time she quit Twitter. It's hard to believe these crazy happenings didn't play a role in her latest dubious distinction: being voted "Worst Celebrity Influence of 2009" by AOL's JSYK.com (Just So You Know) website.
Miley beat out second place-finisher Britney Spears (who admittedly had a fairly respectable 2009) and Kanye "I'm going to let you finish" West, who came in third. In an interesting twist, Miley also walloped fellow Disney princess Vanessa Hudgens in the poll, even though the Wildcat has had not one, but two naked photo controversies of late. Funny what tween/teens will forgive, huh? Where is Chris Brown on this list?

During his recent cover story on Nylon Guys, Zac Efron talked about his upcoming films, “The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud” and “Me and Orson Welles,” as well as dealing with “High School Musical” fame. In the video footage of the shoot, Zac talked less about his work and more about who he is as a person.
“Cassandra, from ‘Wayne’s World.’ Tia Carrere. That was my celebrity crush growing up,” Zac admitted, after sharing how star struck he was over meeting Jim Carrey for the first time.

Jamie Chung really likes her girl time. When we caught up with the "Sorority Row" star and her Theta Pi sisters Audrina Patridge and Margo Harshman, the 26-year-old dished about her next project, another mostly female ensemble film called "Sucker Punch."
Described by writer-director Zack Snyder (the guy behind "Watchmen" and "300") as " 'Alice in Wonderland' with machine guns," the fantasy thriller stars Emily Browning as a young girl institutionalized by her father and scheduled for a lobotomy in five days. To escape her painful reality, Emily retreats to an alternate world of a brothel with fellow inmates Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Abbie Cornish and Jamie. While in pre-production in Vancouver, the girls went through extensive fight training and Jamie, with visible bruises on her knees, talked about her tell-tale injuries. Read more...

Vanessa Hudgens seems to be a pro at being the center of attention as she has now become a cover girl three times this summer (First on Parade, then on InStyle Makeover).
Vanessa hits the cover of Allure magazine for the October issue (see the her fill cover image after the jump) to dish about her new "Angelina Jolie" role and clears the air about her future wedding to boyfriend Zac Efron. The paparazzi are always swarming around Vanessa, but she admits she is not the typical Hollywood star, and even bought a new wig to try to keep her life "normal". She told Allure, “I hate the whole see-and-be-seen feeling. I just hate knowing that people are looking at me. We can understand how she would want some privacy, especially after her recent nude photo scandal.

Yesterday Jon Hamm was confirmed to be the first male actor cast in Zach Snyder's lady-heavy "Sucker Punch," and today we've got another for you: 28-year-old Guatemalan hottie Oscar Isaac. Variety didn't spill too many more beans than that when they filed their report last night.
Zack Snyder is being notoriously tight-lipped about the project and has left few clues as to how Oscar or Jon will fit into the puzzle that is the "Sucker Punch" plot. The little that is known about the film is as follows: a young girl ( Emily Browning) is committed to a mental asylum by her stepdad with plans to be lobotomized. She turns to her friends and fellow inmates ( Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone and Abbie Cornish) to help her escape, and they move into the alternate reality of a brothel to plot and plan. Carla Gugino also stars as a nurse in the real world and brothel madame. Read more...
Fresh off the opening weekend of "Bandslam," Vanessa Hudgens will now turn her attention to Zack Snyder's highly anticipated action flick "Sucker Punch" and the modern-day "Beauty & the Beast" adaptation, "Beastly." In fact, it's the latter of the two that may have given the actress a future desire to star in a biopic about legendary rocker, Janis Joplin.
She told MTV News that her fervor for the artist originated from a specific scene she recently filmed for "Beastly." "There's a Halloween party, and it's kind of a high school Halloween party. All the girls are dressed up as sl--s, and my character comes in as Janis Joplin." After that experience, Vanessa admits to engulfing herself in Janis Joplin Land. "I would not stop listening to her music, and I think she's so incredible. I know I don't look much like her, but you can always hope, right?" Press play below to hear more about Vanessa's biopic dreams!
A fresh-faced Vanessa Hudgens, who turns 21 on December 14, first made her debut on the acting scene when her family settled down in L.A. and she landed a TV commercial. The actress had been acting for years, actually since the age of 8, but it wasn't until her teen years, when she got cast in "High School Musical," that she became a household name.
Before "HSM," Vanessa was already adding roles to her filmography thanks to work in movies like "Thirteen" and "Thunderbirds," and in small roles in several sitcoms.

Believe it or not, just because you're an actress with a musical background (or vice versa: a musician with an acting background), it doesn't always mean you can walk right onto a movie set without proving you're the right person for the job first. Both Vanessa Hudgens and Aly Michalka had to audition for their roles in "Bandslam," even though they already had cred in musical-based movies ("High School Musical") and performing live in concert (Aly & AJ).
"We actually saw each other at the audition which was really funny," Aly recalls. "I went in first. I prepared a song to play on guitar, and then a song to play on piano. I sang an Amy Mann song, called 'How am I different' ... It was fun, it was a very kind of free audition. You just went in and did your thing, Todd [Graff, who helmed the movie] kind of directed, knew exactly what he wanted and had a vision." Read more...
Remember way back when (or, to be exact: early July) when we asked all of you to submit your best and juiciest questions on Your.MTV.com for Vanessa Hudgens? Well, the time has come for us to share her responses!
We have to applaud you, Crushers, for coming up with queries for the "Bandslam" beauty that spanned across all categories — namely fashion, music and YouTube. In case you've missed the rest of our "Bandslam" week here on Hollywood Crush (which concludes tomorrow with even more insider interviews with the new movie's hot stars), be sure to check out: Vanessa and Aly Michalka dishing on their new-found rocker cred thanks to their roles, and Gaelan Connell explaining how the flick is less "High School Musical" and more "Juno" meets "School of Rock." Oh! And speaking of Gaelan, he, by the way, got to lock lips with both Vanessa and Aly Michalka. You so need to hear who he voted as the better kisser.
