Zac Efron and Lily CollinsBecause Hollywood has more in common with your average high school homeroom than most people care to admit, here's some semi-substantiated rumor mongering to start off your day: Zac Efron and Lily Collins are, like, totally dating, y'all. Or are they?

People reports that the two appeared hand-in-hand at a birthday party for one of Zac's friends and shared an intimate cocktail at the bar before joining the rest of the group. Oooh! Romance! (Although Zac was flying solo by the time he turned up at a late-night hotspot—possibly because the star of "Mirror Mirror" needs lots of sleep to maintain her hard-won status as Fairest of Them All.)

All week long, MTV News has been shining a spotlight on Hollywood's freshest faces—a group of busy thespians we've dubbed 2012's Ones to Watch. And what a fine bunch they are: "Hunger Games" stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, "She's Out of My League" starlet Alice Eve and former Dillon Panthers Adrianne Palicki and Taylor Kitsch. Today's One is no exception, earning our undying envy for getting thisclose to none other than Zac Efron while filming her upcoming movie.

Meet Taylor Schilling. You may recognize her as nurse Veronica Flanagan Callahan on NBC's "Mercy," but the 27-year-old is breaking out in a big way this year with roles in two high-profile projects: the Nicholas Sparks adaptation "The Lucky One" and the drama "Argo" directed by Ben Affleck. And don't you worry, we made sure to ask her the question we're all dying to have answered: Is mouth-to-mouth with Zac as amazing as we've always imagined?

Let's be real, y'all: If ever there was a holiday with the potential to be catastrophically terrible, it's New Year's Eve. The post-Christmas blues, the abundant alcohol, the emotional grab-bag of year-end stresses...combine all of these things, and even the most carefully planned evening by the most mentally stable individual is 90 percent likely to end in tears, vomit or (worst of all) VOMIT TEARS.

But don't worry! Because this year, we've got experts on call to help you prevent disaster: the stars of "New Year's Eve" took some time out of their red-carpet walking and waving at the film's premiere, to tell you exactly how NOT to behave as you count down the final hours of 2011.

First, some sage advice from Jessica Biel: "[Don't] plan an important evening. Don't do that, because it's too much pressure. If you're planning on having the best night of the year, you will have the worst night of the year."

And instead, Jessica suggested the following: "Plan nothing. And then see what happens."

Sideburns never looked so good.

While we've been all kinds of excited about Zac Efron's upcoming turn as a Marine in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation "The Lucky One," the actor's been quietly working on another project that sounds, perhaps, even more interesting (though likely won't include a rain-soaked make-out scene). It's called "The Paperboy," and as a belated Christmas gift (or final day of Hanukkah present), the studio's released the vintage-style movie poster (complete with an extra helping of Zefron bicep).

The period drama stars Matthew McConaughey as a reporter who returns home to investigate the killing of a local sheriff by a man (John Cusack) now on death row. He's aided by his little brother (Zac), who's embarked on a romance with the inmate's girlfriend (Nicole Kidman). Directed by Lee Daniels, who scored an Oscar nom for his work on "Precious," we're expecting this film to boast just as much grit and intrigue (after all, the short synopsis alone includes murder and unfaithfulness...)

'Tis the season of top five lists—but we here at Hollywood Crush prefer to look forward instead of back— which is why we’re bringing you our top five most anticipated movies of 2012! And because we’re suckers for a Nicholas Sparks adaptation, "The Lucky One" kicks things off at No. 5.

Sparks' weepy novels have proven to be star-launching platforms for some of Hollywood’s hottest—consider the Sparklings of yore: Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in "The Notebook," Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in "Dear John," and Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth in "The Last Song."

Garry Marshall's star-stuffed rom-com "New Year's Eve" (out today) may not mark the first on-screen pairing of Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer, but it certainly boasts the friendliest.

We recently caught up with the 24-year-old at the New York City premiere for the ensemble flick, where he recalled working with (and being awed by) the actress back in 2007. "I remember the first time I met her was on 'Hairspray,' and she's Michelle Pfeiffer—she had that aura, star aura—so I was always very nervous around her. We never really got the chance to connect on that movie," he said.

But that all changed with "New Year's Eve," in which Michelle plays a depressed office worker who hires bike messenger Zac to help her achieve all of her resolutions before the stroke of midnight. And as it turns out, Michelle was instrumental in getting the hunk to sign on to the project.

The Lucky Oneby Emily Laurence

We love a man in uniform, especially when that man is Zac Efron. The "New Year’s Eve" star had us positively drooling while watching the trailer for Nicholas Sparks’ latest film adaption, “The Lucky One.” And if the glimpse of a shirtless Zac making out with co-star Taylor Schilling is any indication, we’re going to be the lucky ones when we watch the screen melt in April, when the movie hits theaters.

Zac plays Logan, a marine serving his third tour in Iraq. In the middle of a deadly desert battle, he finds a picture of a woman, which he starts carrying everywhere. It’s like a rabbit’s foot, only the woman in the photo is much hotter than a bunny. He thinks of her as his guardian angel. When he returns from the war, Logan decides to hunt for the woman in the photo, who he learns is named Beth.

Anyone who's seen the various trailers or posters for "New Year's Eve" knows that this film is freakin' full of stars. So much so that at one point during the multiple casting announcements, I thought we were all being Punk'd. Not so, as it turns out Garry Marshall is so beloved as a director that he can get anyone he wants to be in his movies, if only for a minute or two.

In the spirit of the film's star studded-ness, MTV News asked a handful of the actors in question to try to name as many of their co-stars as possible, which proved a daunting task for most everyone—even Abigail Breslin—who had already faced this tough test. Check out the video above to see how they did.

We know it’s hard to believe that Zac Efron has never been one of our Hump Day Hotties. But, we’re making amends before 2011 wraps up and showing the "New Year’s Eve" actor some major love. So, Zac, in order to ring in the New Year right, we resolve to finally name you our Hump Day Hottie. (And we're not the only ones swooning over Zac; click on the video below to hear co-star Abigail Breslin talk about CRYING over meeting him!)

Vital stats: Zachary David Alexander Efron (yes, that’s his real full name and, yes, it’s quite the mouth full) was born 24 years ago on October 18 in California. When he wasn’t in school, Zac was bulking up his resume in local theater before eventually getting scoring an agent at the suggestion of his drama teacher. Since breaking up with Vanessa Hudgens last year, Zac’s been flying solo.

This year's biggest New Year's Eve party may actually have taken place nearly a month before the big night itself—at least, if the photos from last night's movie premiere for "New Year's Eve" is any indication. The star-studded ensemble cast was out in full force, dressed to the nines in appropriately glitzy gowns and well-tailored tuxes.

Granted, there are a few year-end accessories missing from the overall tableau; you won't see any paper hats, champagne showers or 10-second countdowns in our flipbook from the event...but hey, there is NYE poster boy Ryan Seacrest! Plus, great shots of Lea Michele snuggling up to Ashton Kutcher, Hilary Swank in a spangled minidress; Katherine Heigl and Sofia Vergara showing off their megawatt smiles; and, of course, Zac Efron getting nice and close to Michelle Pfeiffer. (That last pic may or may not launch a thousand May-December romance rumors—we've got hand-to-waist contact!)
